As far as I am concerned Joondalup Council is full of not to bright people who have a lot to answer for...............

...hmmm, I don't know who those guys are, and how intelligent they are etc....all I know is that underestimating the opponent is usually the first mistake that the looser makes in a fight...

I would have to agree with you Andrash, but I don't think they are "the opponent." Council should be working with all water users in a rational thought out process, and that takes time. Shoot from the hip actions have never worked when dealing with complicated issues in a free forward looking society, especially when we making rules regarding how the ocean is used.

"The next step will be a complete banning of Kiting around the Pinnaroo, Mullaloo areas and this is not an unrealistic reality" (ZED). Thats what Im trying to say Zed but most kiters ignore other people. The end result...We will be banned from Pinaroo and maybe Mullz??

I dont usually get involved in this kind of thing but.....
Riptorn(Ryan), What a load crap!
If you actually do kite and are not on here for other intentions like others and myself suspect, then how could you say that most kiters ignore other people. This and many of your past comments seem reflect the similar misinformed and ill judged views of the groups opposing kiting in this region.

I agree that there are is a small number of ignorant kiters out there that are not making it easier for us, but as a whole the Mullaloo kiting "locals" are intelligent cautious people.

From knowing and talking to the regular (non kiting) beach users and attending the council meeting it is clear that the real issue is that the beach users dont have confidence in our ability to control our kite.

As kiters we need to make the public feel safe when they are around us, a simple smile, wave or a gesture for them to walk past acknowledging to them that you are in control and are looking out for them goes a long way.

I know everyone knows this already but its so simple to make the public feel safe:

When upwind and in close proxmity to beach users do not;
- launch
- land
- beach jump
- ride into to the shore
- park or ride kite so the lines/kite are overhead of beach users.

and generally acknowledge to them that you know they are there and in control.

Why don't you do something about it. I've mentioned this several times. Next time you see an ignorant kiter doing something he shouldn't, wait for him to land his kite and politely 'educate' him. I'm being constructive here (believe it or not). There's a small minority of kiters out there who have little or no respect for other beach and ocean goers and like you said they are stuffing it up for you. An example being, I was sailing at Scarbs a few weeks ago, lots of kiters and poleys out, sailing in their respective zones, along came 2 legend kiters blasting through where the windsurfers were, doing jumps metres from swimmers, some young kid almost got taken out. They did this for 30mins or so before they got the message. There must have been 30+ kiters out there, not one came over to say or do anything.

To all 'mullazlocal's and others.
We do have a draft of an email prepared to be sent all WAKSA members & subscribers re the online survey. Other messages of proposed and suggested actions which can be taken; for both the 'public comment' phase of the draft plan proposal and beyond; will also be communicated to all our contacts.

At the moment we have a meeting scheduled with the mayor, Mr. Troy Pickard, early next week. We have deliberately held back on posting out any advice until we get through this next very important 'face-to-face' interchange of information.

All members can expect Enews circulars on this issue to commence soon after that meeting.

We are confident that we are covering every possible avenue to ensure that sense and reasoned thought will eventually be applied to the manangement of kiting on City of Joondalup beaches.
What may be perceived as delays &/or inaction is merely caution. Caution to consider every suggested course of action to be certain that every action followed is a positive one.

Hey Zed,
You seem to be really concerned about the saftey of these kids and that the kiters were in your area, but you stood there and watched this "apparent" dangerous behaviour for HALF AN HOUR , and didnt say something yourself??????
Especially when it looks like the polers are gunna be tard with the same brush, would think it would be in YOUR best intrest....
If it really was a concern, why didnt you have a friendly chat to them??Problem would have been solved.
Instead of just watching and waiting for a kid to get hurt???Dont get it.

Stop being childish, you know what I'm getting at. It should be the Kiters having a word with other errant Kiters, if that had been happening you wouldn't be in this pickle. I rarely see Kiters where I normally sail, so it's inconsequential to me whether kiting is banned/restricted, I just think it's a shame fools like you ruin it for the genuine Kiters out there who love the ocean, love their sport and are trying to do the right thing.

Calm down mate, wasnt being childish,no need for calling people fools because they have a different opinion to you.Hey,it a forum, its what its all about.
just dont understand why you would stand and watch kids in danger for half an hour and not do anything. If you were too scared to talk to the kiters, you should have pointed out the danger to the unknowing parents of the kiddies.
Bit too late complaining about it on a forum.
A responsible water use/adult/parent,what ever, would have intervened in this situation.
But like you said, its inconsequntial to you.

I find it very ironic that when polies compalin online about kiter/s behaviour we are told to mention it to them
But when we mention it here we get sledged for it.

I agree with Zed. The trouble is it happens all the time and we get sick of warning kiters (and getting the resultant abuse) and we get sick of watching it happen so mention it here for a wider audience.
And kiters still seem to not give a sh!t

Now lotofwind- you said to Zed he should do something. Maybe fair enough, he didn't say anything. But his point was, he saw 30 kiters do nothing about it also. So perhaps before you criticise him for doing nothing (maybe he was 100m away?) you can tell us what you have proactively done to rein in the dangerous kiters over the last few years, so the rest of your crew don't get restricted by JCC?

Despite the fact that these (fairy) stories; written by non kiters here on 'our' forum; have absolutely no basis in fact we will see them quoted back against us on the table at Joondalup City. (just as they were intended)
Nice work poleys - NOT
And you present it in terms of trying to help - yeah right - just exactly how does that work!

Hey puppet,
Its not all the poleys, most of them are good blokes, its always the same 2 ,Zed and Mark, that pretend to be concerened but are obviously on a mission to fuel the pole dancer V's kiter arguments on this topic for their own personal problems.

You just have to read the majority of their helpful posts on this page to see they have a personal problem with kiters.
But we all know they are just jealous

Even their own fourm users are bored of their consistent posts on anti kite.Have recieved quite a few PM's from the poleys telling this and not to judge all windsurfers by these few.

Frogman,

You’re from Victoria…so how much do you really know about the issues over here?

And then you tell us to ‘wake up’….

Frogman, I think Tgladmans request for more info was a genuine one. You stated that you had a 'run in' with a kiter but gave no details.
We don't mind the genuinely concerned pollies dropping by if they can offer some constructive advice, however it seems that most that comment on this forum just seem to want to inflame kiter/windsurfer relationships.

I notice you joined seabreeze today, then came straight over to the kite forum and call Perth kiters retards, without giving any explanation of why, then state that you can 'smell the attitude' of a kiter that asked a genuine question...... unbelievable....sounds like the pot calling the kettle black to me.

Good luck i hope you get the best locations down there.

What a narrow minded ,sad questioneer (suspect councilers and or budgie smugglers members got to be linked with surflife clubs)

When council gets involved they stuff it for ALL 9 times out of 10.

What im now EXPECTED to pay our rates and cop increases to employee people we over pay , to hang at the beach to bust us having a good time, like flying a kite on the beach,, even when theres only a few people hanging around.

How many actuall real registred incidents have been reported investigated and followed up on where a serious injury to a 3rd parties have been proven.

Hear say is hear say and there is a lot of it about kiting .............perceptive behavours can equals no danger.

Actual danger has to be investigated VIA some sort of risk assessment .....which could be achieved with out having Zoning and spacific boundarys and area locations.

If there is room on the beaches and its done safely whats the issue.

RULES ARE FOR FOOLS AND THE WISE INTERPRATE

Very VERY Sad.......... FREEDOM TO ALL.

Dont you swim between the flags
walk the dog at the dog beach
jet skie in the between the bouys
