Just got back from Leighton. Whilst I couldn't taste or see oil in the water, a number of crew have discovered brown, sludgey, some might say ****Tee marks on boards, and on feet.
Not sure how much is there or how long it's been in the sand...
Dunno about the oil, i have been spending lots of time on the beach in the last week or so and havent seen a skerritt.
However there is enough weed in Leighton to render the beach useless for anything.
I just got back from there. I was wondering what that brown **** was all over my footpads. I had assumed that my feet must have been dirty before i kited...
After a session at Trigg today i have some nasty weird brown marks on my surfboard straps
Thought it was something rusting in the back of the ute
Clearly not![]()

Its not something new, about 4-5 months ago in Leighton I stepped on something big and black, first I thought it was a dog poop but I realized that I can not wash it away.
I used sand, water, everything and it was stocked to my fingers.
I drove to a petrol station and I washed it with petrol.
the oils being washing up on the beaches near watermans on and off for a few months now. looks like engine oil.
we wondering which ship has dumped a few drums into the ocean off the coast????![]()
Theres plenty of the stuff at Mullaloo, got some on the foot pad and also LE of kite Remove with dishwashing liquid.
Didn't see any at Swanny on the weekend but I think I'll start wearing my boardies over the wetsuit. Got to keep up with the Leighton crew.![]()
I'm surprised they haven't traced the source yet?
After all oil can be traced back to it's origin, and it's a pretty big deal to not be on top of.
More likely some foreign ship dumping it's sump wastes. ![]()
Hope they find the cause soon, and are cleaning it up.
