Its been like this every other week for the last 2 months ?
Yep your right the charts have been like that many times but it doesn’t relate to what’s actually happening at the beach and it’s not only been like that in the last few weeks but the whole summer. If the charts state 20kns, 90% of the time it's only 12
.
They can't be wrong that often so is the wind a couple of kilometres off shore and just not making it us desperately waiting on the beach![]()
The other thing I've noticed this season is the hourly or even minutely fluctuations in the wind speed. I didn’t notice it last season but this one has been crazily inconsistent. There was a group of us down the local today after the turn of the tide and it was a nice constant 17 – 20 then several times the wind would just drop out and swing around 20 -30 degrees - to dangerous so we all packed up.
I hope next season is better than this one unless you guys might get some cheap gear - only joking... I think.
Foiling has saved my off season - average twice a week in 9-12 knots sometimes less . Took a long time to get the hang of but has turned my kitesurfing to a year round thing. Use tt on windy summer days and foil all others when wind looks like hitting 10 knots (or near). No problem getting up wind In lightest of winds .
