Anyone brought one in from OS?
with the Strong Aussie dollar I have seen Seadoo RXP's, Wakes etc for around $6-$7k with 30 or less hours....just how to get them here??
Would be nice to have one as a safety backup for those offshore days, conditions always look so flat, but if things went wrong.......

jetskis are hot items for those nigerian scammers, i had one try to scam me saying he would send it to me from england.

its pretty obvious, but just in case you are the trusting type, watch out when buying from over seas

Jetski Warehouse on the Goldy import their skis from the U.S. and they are about 5k cheaper than Yammy just up the road. They also give you a 5 year warranty instead of Yammys pathetic 12 months.

Can you fit a kite(or 2), pump, bar and harness in the compartments on any jetskis?

The KAWASAKI ULTRA 250 X which i looked at yesterday has about 200 litre storage in the bow, i recon you could fit 2 kites, bars, harness, easy. Boards would have to be carried (maybe along sides of set held with legs) im also looking at a sled which may be a good way to carry gear.

I have a sled, works great with a cargo net that you can get from Supercheap. Having the ski opens up some great uncrowded kite spots here. Once you have a good anchor, water, and wettys e.t.c. in the compartments on a ski, you won't have much room for kite kit.

hook the kite bags onto the towing eye, they sit on the stern, and get a bit wet. boards in the footwells with your legs over 'em, plenty room for pumps harnesses esky etc etc in the holds and 2 people. just go a bit steady or you smash the beers![}:)]

seriously, that video (i confess to having wasted two whole minutes of my life on it) is the best anti-stinkboat argument yet posted. such lame wave-riding, if you could even call it that, and the cumbersome loopy things are just embarrassing to watch. if that's the cutting edge of the sport, it's about as sharp as a bowling ball.

this thread makes great reading. Noticed Victoria is bringing in hoon laws for jet skis and can confiscate skis. Bring it on in WA. Be glad when theyre all either locked up or crushed

Fantastic, make sure i dont visit nobby's when there is no wind. Nothing like listening to the drone of a jetski, ripping apart another beach, in the middle of summer. - Ban them all i reckon.

Flame Away

Yeah!!! Especially those ones that save peoples lives everyday!! Maybe you should simply go to a beach where there are no ski's or just stick to hanging around the public toilets. Maybe give up wakeboarding too or do you own a silent boat.

Um, I don't know anyone whose life was saved by a jetski. I know lots of people whose day at the beach was ruined by one. This is not to say there aren't considerate and useful users, just that the vast majority are so obnoxious that I'd be happy to see them all disappear tomorrow.

Not every kiter is a bogan, but as soon as you grab that tow rope or flick that throttle you certainly jump up a step in selfishness, resource intensiveness, and the loathing of other beach users.

You seriously don't think anyones life was saved by a jetski??? I thought you were supposed to be one of the more intelligent forum users??? Jetskis are used worlwide in surf locations to save peoples lives, including many lives saved here on the Goldy. The guys in places like Hawaii that save peoples lives in huge surf have balls of steel, putting their own lives on the line everyday to save others.

Yes there are idiots that own ski's, kites, boats, cars e.t.c. but fortunately where I live skis are not allowed anywhere near shore at most beaches.

Interesting subject this,....

I'm sure if I went to a gazetted waterski or freestyle jetski area and started paddling around on my surfboard or swimming or trying to kite, I'd soon get told to "F*ck the hell off" yet beach goers are expected to put up with jetskiiers, and nobs towing boogie boards into beach breaks (yes I've seen it happen) !!

IMHO jet ski's have two useful purposes, lifesaving, and tow surfing at appropriate surf breaks - ie. offshore breaks that paddle surfers don't go out too - and NOT beach breaks where there are swimmers and other surfers out.

We're pretty lucky in W.A. in that there are designated water ski and jetski areas, and have plenty of surf breaks where the tow in guys can have fun without jeopardising the saftey of the general surfing and bathing community.

I personally don't like freestyling jet skiers, but am happy for them to do their thing, as long as they stick to the rules and keep away from other water users

- live and let live

I read somewhere that Hannibal Lectur had a jetski..........

And Hitler.....

And Genghis Khan, but his was hay powered.

Come to think of it a guy sittting on a horse that was body surfing waves would be super cool not bogan and a@#ehole type behaviour at all. As usual Old School is always cool.
