i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the elastic attachment with a ring on to the pigtail lines is called?
the part description in RB 13 09 35cm, which I presume is kite year 13, 35com long and part number 09.
also what it does and where I could a new one Being based in WA? tried the manual and Google but no luck!
Sounds like the bungee line. You can get some lines from Bunnings and make some up. A lot of shops don't stock this part, near impossible to get one here. I have them on my 2013 Fuses and all are broken. I just removed them and replace them when I can. It does not effect the kites flying capability, it's just there to help self launching, stops the steering lines snagging on the tip of the LE and i have not noticed any real difference in that department either. Pretty sure its the same for the Rebel. If you don't stitch it you can tie a figure 8 knot instead.
You can pick these up at Action Sports in Balcatta for a few bucks. drop in tomorrow and you'll be all set for the next time the wind comes in......??
as Mex has noted, it is occasionally useful for self launching as it stops the line from catching on the wing tip (which you can avoid with proper self launching technique, but that one time you are lazy and in a hurry you'll appreciate it).
Thanks for all the replies, gonna fly without until I can get one or make one! Sorry if I didn't reply individually, not sure how to navigate properly yet! will look at links in detail and decide best way forward!

Hi all,
NKB AUS have these in stock, so all you need to do is get your local store to order them in. (if they dont already have them).
Making your own is an option, but make sure the diameter and elasticity of the shock cord is the same otherwise your kite will turn to one side.
The idea of the bungees is to 1). keep the slack of the rear lines in, so not to snag when relaunching. 2). to keep slack in when kite is turning, with not full power, so you can keep steering the kite.
The kite will fly without, but you lose a lot of the feel, especially when wave riding or jumping.
good luck.
