Hi Guys,
Got a North fuse (2009 maybe) but its confusing to setup the lines. Problem is there two settings on the 2 front pig tails - one knot for 4 line and another knot for 5 line. Since I use a 5 line North bar I use the 5 line knot, but the problem is if the 5th line is not loaded why have two settings at all. Kite only fly on 4 lines irrespective of the bar (as 5th line just for QR) so why confuse with two settings? Related question is will it be better to fly this with quad bar compared to 5 line bar? Have an old Cabrinha bar so might try after changing pig tails.
thanks
The North Fuse was North's attempt to make a bridled version of the Rebel. It was designed to fly on a 4 line high Y bar. How high is the split on your cab bar? If its more than 7-8m it should be fine (you should get a bit more low end grunt out of the slightly lower split point) although the standard Y split is pretty high (I think 11m from the kite so 14m up from the bar on a standard 25m bar)
5th Line bar should flag out more reliably with better power reduction though (single line flag rather than dual front flagging). North have kept the 5th line as it offers a simple safety system with relatively few drawbacks. Apart from for the giggles of trying the kite on the cab bar I wouldn't sink any cash into changing it. It should fly just fine.
BTW. Split point between 4 line and 5 line North bars are different so dont just try to replicate the Y height. Thats the reason for the different knots. You'll change the effective length of the lines by changing the height of the Y split. Can't remember what the difference is but its about 2-3m lower on the newer bars.
