I tore my whole nail off kitin on the wkend end up at old bar, I somehow wacked my hand/finger on the bar trying backroll kiteloops and it came off but just hangin on by a thread. I kited in and found some electrical tape and put my nail back on and taped it all up and went back out again coz i was really enjoying myself
Well, then my nail sorta re glued itself back on and was looking heaps dodgy so i went to the docs and they had to rip it back off again and here is the end result
I bought 20 bux worth water proof bandages today coz theres a southerly tomorrow

snap!

well, I did mine a few years ago, I smashed it against my own kiteboard. Took f'in' ages to grow back properly. My advice is to keep it trimmed, it'll grow back but banging a half grown nail against something solid is just sheer pain.

That is painfull to look at!!!

The electrical tape first aid is impressive, especially for, dare I say it, a kitegirl.

I'm not sure I want to know, but I feel the need to ask. How did the doctor "rip it back off again "?

More importantly, did you land any of the backroll kiteloops?

hey trant, looks nasty...exactly how long did it take to grow back... and how long till it drys out... mine is still wet/weeping and gross... doc said i can get it wet in the ocean n stuff... and i been told i can wear a bandaid over it and i have to keep it covered for work (i cant let it just air out)... i nearly passed out twice tryin to get the gauze off it today that the doc put on... it took me an hr to get it off, soaking my finger in a bowl of warm water n gently peeling it off ....
any other advice?

I knew I didn't want to know any of this stuff.

Time for you to self administer those corona's I think kitegirl.

I have psoriasis which f*&ked it up every time it grew back, so it took 2 years

Hopefully yours should be good much quicker. You have my sympathy whilst it grows back as I found it painful at times, but you can console yourself with showing your mates a nasty looking kite injury whilst down the pub. (especially when it's got plenty of pus)

p.s. What's the adjective of pus? e.g. I have a p***y nail?

and to think - all this could have been avoid if you stayed home and did the housework

I've been through that pain, been a long while though.

The nail grows back as fast as your nails normally grow. Starts at the back...

With regard to getting stuck gauze off - oh I remember that pain. Nearly passed out doing it myself slowly. I then understood why fingernails figure prominantly in torture methods.

There is only one way to do it. Soak for 5 mins as you did (warm saline is best) - then get someone to rip it off. The pain is surprisingly small and sharp.

just like having a torn callous on your hand, peeing on your torn fingernail area will toughen the skin quickly apparrently.

Kitegirl is tough, yes.

The pretty loud yellow tape she used to hold the nail on was only matched by the pretty LOUD screams when the nail was almost torn off.

The locals learnt several new words
