Been here for 10 months.

Livng in in the north and Gunung Sitoli.

Cant say it it is a windy place at all In my experience. Wind comes with the storms and is patchy. Trades are very light. 6-10 kts. Seems to be backed up by historical data on the net as well.

It it may be better in the south though and certainly as you go north to the Banyaks and Banda Aceh there is more wind.

Been out 3 times in this period zephyr and nugget. 85kgs. Again on the back of approaching storms not trades.

Sing out if you want any advice. Know the place pretty well now. The surf is proper. . Lagundri , Asu , Afulu are awesome.

Just surf. forget kiting. Waves are way to good to bother with a kite anyhow and hardly any decent wind.

Join the pack at lagundri on a paddle standup, the machine is apparently ruined due to rising reef after the tsunami, pity what a wave. As for kiting - rugged coast barely submerged reefs, strong currents being a island, and little chance of any rescue.
