Thanks waveslave,

I was doing some beach sliding behind the kite at about 8 knots (rebel 07), guess I need to double it, before I hit the water. Would 15 Knots give me a bit of air time, should i make a wrong move???

1 knot from the top on rear lines will do it

Soundz like you need to practise using your SAFETY releases more,

this will give you more confidence...in wipeouts when you only get "WET" thats all

Sorry - i was making a joke at Noobie expense

Some kites have a few knots on the rear kite lines for fine tuning more or less power which is useful for various windstrengths depending on Experience...

Cheersz

I should have said controlled beach skiing instead of beach sliding, u know the one where u sit down & get the kite to pick u up & go for a ski across the sand.

So, would I be able to do it in less than 15 knots, by doing the above??

Waveslave is spot on, anything sub 15Kts then don't bother. Yes 15Kts will get you air and will get you spanked if you screw up. Just remember the more you fly the kite through the window the more apparent wind it will generate = more POWER!

Depends upon your kite but with most the best way out of trouble is to dump most of the power out of the kite by either pushing the bar out or even letting go when you get into trouble. Most Bow / Hybrid kites depower to about 90% (never 100%) and if you watch all the videos of guys getting badly spanked they are generally all holding onto that bar for grim death.

Practice, practice, practice your quick release as by the time you need it its got to be an instinctive move.

If you are just water starting then I would suggest you might need at least one more lesson / someone keeping an eye on you.

Cheers
