Ok so I've finally decided to cross to the dark side from being a long time windsurfer

My question is- I'm 90kg and want a light wind kite for 11-18 knots I've been advised on a Naish Cult with a 135 Naish Haze board then one person reckons a 9m cult for 18-30 knots and the other person reckons a 10.5m Cult!

What the general rule here if any? Should I go with the 9m or 10.5?

Thanks in advance

90kg ....... 11 to 18knots I dont think either will be enough for you.....at that wind and your weight a 13/14m might be more appropriate

I reckon 18 to 30 knots on a 135 you will need to 10.5. 11 to 18 knots then i think you're gonna need at least a 12. I'm 85kg and ride a 135 Caliber and my 12 doesn't really pull till its clearly over 15 knots. I've just got a 16 metre kite to use in anything below about 17 knots.

Good luck dude - try to get a demo kite for a session or two and feel your way. Most newbies over here start with a 12 metre bow kite.

DOH just call me a dumb Kiwi re-read my post.

I meant I'll have a 13.5 cult for 11-18 knot then should I go with a 10.5m or 9m. Both on the haze 135. Two shops are giving me conflicting answers

Thanks guys

One big factor is which year model you are looking at as the 2010 Cult has a fair bit more power than the 09.

go for 9m faster turning meaning you could get going at a lower bottom end than advised by naish

4m size overlap is pretty much the go in kites, this way as ur reaching the top of ur 13 ud b well into ur 9s range...

P.s In all seriousness, if you are a noob - then you shouldnt be on that size kite to begin with. As it will get you into serious trouble if the the wind picks up or drops out..

Question yourself, how will I get my ass out of a situation turning ugly ???

Cheers Guys.

Its gonna be the 09 Cult.

So is there a general concensus that 4m is the gap between kites?
