Nice edit mate, almost didn't look because it was marked windsurfing I've watched you out a couple of times and you always look like your yeah having a blast. It's good to see you young guns giving it a go and having fun. Keep pushing hard and good luck in the future!

thanks bro. yeah thats what is all about.

Actually, I had another proper look of your video Kye, and you know what? Bloody beauty mate!!

We should be encouraging young people in the sport to excel and be their best, not criticise or make fun of (bullying). My apologies to you Kye over my comments above, but I was just having a giggle.

Well done Kye! Keep up the good work and your spins look good too!

Totally agree with you lofty. Not sure why this whole thing pushed so many buttons with people, have to take pretty much everything on the internet with a grain of salt these days.

With that said Kye, you seem to be stoking the fire a little bit, most of the flack you have received has been brought on by you biting back mate. I can tell that you do not take the negative comments to heart (which is good) but you might receive less if you don't open yourself up to them.

I very rarely post a comment on this forum, but I couldn't help myself with this one.

As a team rider and brand ambassador you are a product/shops image being the person representing it. As a team rider the brand and image is placed in your hands and part of your responsibility is build a connection between your sponsors and the kiting community. You may be able to ride ok but your attitude isn't doing any favours to your sponsors..

So Kye was this what you were really expecting, considering the way you started out with your post?
No need to answer, just something to think about.

As much as I like to see young kiters putting themselves out there through uploading content in a hope to get more positive than negative feedback, I feel there needs to be something cleared up in this particular situation.

Kye is not a Liquid Force (LF) supported rider, he is a shop rider and the owner of this shop has chosen along with Kye to ride LF gear. We have a great LF National team who work hard on promoting both the LF brand and the sport positively. Unfortunately sometimes the lines get blurred and shop riders tag the brand they ride in a way that can have a negative impact. Saying this, shop riders are part of an education process which involves input from the brands alongside the shop owners/managers etc. Shop riders are a very important part of the active marketing and promotion of the sport and contribute to the sales of each shop respectively. It is a hard job at times to communicate to riders what their job is and do it in a way that does not squash the passion and drive of individual kiters, especially the younger ones. At LF we try to work with our retailers when and if we can to help their chosen shop riders do a good job and we offer a pathway through the ranks up to national and even international for the right riders.

Come on kye, now you are just being as bad as the blokes who started bagging on you in the first place.
It is in the Australian culture to have a bit of a harmless jab at your mates every now and then. Your post started off as a bit of a harmless joke (taken the wrong way by some) and it should stay a harmless joke.

You seem like a decent bloke under all the showmanship, and you are a damn good kiter, but have some humility and know when you should pull your head in mate, being negative and taking a stab at fellow water sport lovers will never get you anywhere

Sorry got a bit carried away with it. Yes I totally agree with this. I am a shop rider I'm not trying to make it look like I am a national rider. Was trying to get the message across that my gear of choice is LF and I am a shop rider at Surfconnnect. It's always fun to have a little joke in kitesurfing but this little joke went too far.

An interesting point is that after the initial harmless joke, young Kye here has decided to go on the attack targeting several of the older generation (if I may) who have dared provide feedback in what I view as an anti generational attitude that’s now become quite obvious and public.

Why this is interesting, is that it is this old customer that forms the majority of his sponsor’s customer base. In this area, it is the older guys (like me) and gals that have the disposable income to spend in his sponsor’s shop. I know the sponsor and he’s always up for a bit of a laugh but personal insults are not his thing – I’m tipping public attempts to alienate the generation that has money to spend is not really what he would be looking for. Seriously Kye, you should know you’ve gone too far when the LF factory team manager comes out distancing his brand from you. Congrats, you've just passed How to not become a national team rider lesson 1....

Essentially, your role for your sponsor is encouraging people like me to spend my money in that store – not online if I really want LF or go up the road for another brand. You are supposed to be inspiring me with your actions, image and profile to go to Sandgate for my next purchase on my hobby - that’s what kiting is to me a hobby – and I spend quite a lot on it. Have a look around at the people buying LF products in Brisbane most of us would be in your "old dude" bracket. The shop gives you something in equipment and in return the arrangement has to work for them too.

BTW. I'm one of the old dudes you choose to insult. I'm often at Sandgate (and other SEQ locations) with the other SC customers (or old dudes).

According to the statement above I should look elsewhere for my next equipment purchase which is going to be the next time I’m at Sandgate. But on review, you as a representative of SC have informed us all that he now has changed his policy on old dudes. Which must be a stark backflip given the service provided to the old dudes at the beach everyday and extending to the safari in 2014.

Fact: In any form of commercial communication, if people have taken offence to what you are saying - it is offensive whether you see it or not. And it is not in the interest of any sponsors - unless you are offending the sponsors' commercial opposition and even then it would be rare.

Wake up, the old dudes might not be able to teach you any kiting tricks, but there’s still a lot you can learn from them.

Seriously dude if kye keeps progressing as fast as he is by the time he is 20 or so hes gonna be pretty dam good, some of the tricks in this vid already are pretty dam good, i dont think sponsors will care about comments on a forum. Lol and if you dont buy a particular kite because somebody that rides the same kite called you old then being old is the least of your problems.

Sponsors care about social media. For free riders, thats whats its all about. and for you to say LF won't care about about kye winding people up on this forum, your quite wrong. As it is, Australia has a small enough market and it looks like LF is trying really hard to sell more kites. every one on this forum is a potential buyer and to burn so many people is not a good thing.

I cant believe people can be so easily offended, so much for tough Aussies hey. Lets put this in perspective shall we, he is 15 and is having some fun stiring people (didnt we all when we were 15) Instead of jumping on your high horse here saying how hes offended this person and that maybe you all should be old enough and wise enough to know when you are being stired up and maybe not stir the pot yourselves.

Kye.....well obvoise to many, his Mum or Dad never skilled him on social activities, if you cant say anything nice, best not say anything at all.
Best thing is, he will be back to school soon, and wont have much time to meander round on kite forum with what is perceived as humor, but in fact is just being a smart a.... bordering on narky.
Outlet I suspect wouldn't be that happy with his profile. All in all, its about selling the brand, and the shop....inst it?
