Had a double hip replacement(1st 5/24, 2nd 1/25). Just started kiting again last month. Has been great. I can get so much more rotation on my body as well as no pain. There is hope for you.

If you have any concerns, going strapless on a directional is a good safe option to get started, and your surgeon should be able to guide you as to any restrictions you might need to observe.
Good luck with your surgery; it is so worth it!

Thanx for the positive feedback. I'm 4 weeks into my recovery. I love this sport and looking forward to getting back out on the water. Good winds and sunshine to all

That's good to hear. One of our instructors had a double hip replacement a few months ago. Already feeling better than before the surgery.

During my studies in sport science I worked with injured athletes to speed up their recovery through strength, mobility and balance training. I can only suggest that you do the same once you get the green light from your physio. It's also worth looking for a sports physio who understands your activity and can make specific suggestions to improve your mobility and strength for kitesurfing.

Wow that's inspirational lots of respect for thathope it works out that's all positive .
I recently had few internal medical things going on &couldn't move for weeks
Back to yoga and regular fasting cleanses it is
After years diving &generally being under the sea i was baffled on my uselessness on planetary consciousness without the sea in my life..
. I am now a complete expert on documentaries and Hamas and Israel and things
I came to the very spiritual conclusion which I already had really ..that the heat and the climate there and lack of sea being so landlocked (I've been there) is what makes people and those types so angry.
We are very lucky ..
The sea has a calming healing effect as David Attenborough would confirm

Anyway hope all's well

I've also come across the theory that Muslims are having kids to gradually take over the world
I know a few Muslims & been there and in retrospect they've actually said that to me..
Completely understand the asylum seeker scenario

What did you learn about in your recovery times?....

Canadian here: I had a double hip replacement in April 2023 at the age of 65. I was back on the water (foiling) after 10 weeks. I had a good surgeon and although the first couple of weeks after surgery were pretty unpleasant, I started improving steadily. I was back on the water (foiling) after 10 weeks.

I've been kiting for 15 years after my hip replacement surgery at 45 years of age.
No probs, actually I can kite for longer than I can walk (which does my wife's head in)
I go for high aspect kites so more pull/lift up rather than forward if on a twin tip.
