Why not start her on the same gear your flying? (unless it's too advanced)
Then you can share a quiver, which works well if theres a big difference in weight between you.

Here's the best advice you'll ever receive. Get a good IKO instructor to teach her, don't teach her yourself.

If you want her to get into it, get a hold of the easiest gear you can so entry into the sport is easy, safe, fun and rewarding, then once she's up and riding worry about sharing quivers etc.

Easiest kite on the market is probably Airush DNA, it's what we teach on in the school because the relaunch is so easy and it's stable as hell, not too heavy on the bar and easy to ride.

Also get her onto a trainer kite, it will help heaps when she goes for lessons. You should be able to hire one from a good school if you can't afford one (good christmas gift) outright.

Trust me, trainer kites are worth their weight in gold, there are nay sayers but in my experience (8 years of teaching noobs) trainers progress you FAST!

I hope this helps you somewhat and helps her into the sport, we always need more girls in the sport!

Good winds and Merry Christmas,

Probably the best advice... I had my partner all keen and good at bodydragging, but hooked her in once too early... nothing happend, it was only 8 knots - but I was pushing her too fast to trust her level of control and that is where it ended... So, I think an instructor for the first couple of lessons may pick up the suttleties better...

... that is if you can find a good one on one instructor that you trust with your "hot" girl! maybe get CJ (Goldcoast) to teach her then you know you are safe ;)

Hey PM, we just had a Girls Social KiteSurfing Demo day on the 15th of December at Sandgate with an AMAZING turn out of girls! It was so great to meet so many other girls who kite and in the sport!

Our next demo day we will also be holding a social day for girls, and would be great to see you and your girl come along! Keep an eye out on the QLD Events page coming up in the next few weeks

However, advice about gear for a newbie really depends on how they go after a few lessons (and THEN) purchasing the suitable gear!

Hope to see you and your girlfriend around sometime really soon!
