Bit of a random post but I was reading the news this morning and all I could think was how epic it is that a new kite location has just emerged.

Says the island has formed off Cape Point, Buxton in Hatteras. Hatteras is a major kite destination already. They have the Triple S there and the Hatteras Wave Classic is just a few hundred m north of the location of this island. Looks like an epic spot.

The article is so contradictory thoough saying that the island has formed in the middle of the bermuda triangle. There is only a narrow channel separating it from the mainland at a point which is well outside the confines of Bermuda, Miami and Peurto Rico.

bermuda triangle clickbait.

The sand island formation is pretty cool though. Could get some sort of sandank forming there ala skeleton bay by the look of it.

It appeared in another news paper as well. It looks even better here;

Looks like a nice wave spot with flat water on the inside.

The Outer Banks is a fantastic spot to kite. I would go back there in a heartbeat. Super long downwinders without crowds, lagoons on the other side of the islands. Buxton Flats was pretty amazing though plenty of people on it. The sands there are super dynamic, and I doubt that little island will be there long. The whole of the Outer Banks is always shifting west, and houses have to be built on stilts 12 feet above mean high tide and are often relocated as the sand moves and rebuilds on the west side. Don't think I would want to be there in summer month though, gets pretty crowded.
