Hi Guys. Busy year for me - way more work than I wanted or expected, and far fewer windy days than you'd expect in summer. I'd pull out a camera sporadically, but hadn't got around to do anything with the pictures.
It was all getting to me a bit, but when I finally got around to cobbling the pics together, I look at them and sort of think - "I get to live here? I get to do this? I'll problably be doing this again today? I'm whinging about - what?"
Thanks to the local Newcastle crew for reluctantly appearing, sorry to those I missed, thanks also to Glenn and Warwick for manning the camera occassionally.
** Warning ** This video contains images of twintips in surf, strapped, unstrapped, boardshorts, SUPs, surfboards, sailboards, dogs and cats living together. Sensitive kiters should look away!
AWESOME vid mate. Your stuff ROCKS.
It's easy to take for granted what an awesome a place we live in -- then I watch one of your vids -- and it all comes rushing back. Anyone who can watch this clip and not end with a profound inner smile filling their entire body is one hard-arsed b$stard.
Great work mate!
Another great vid of yours Nerk. Great to see all the different disciplines . Awesome scenery and that shot of the dolphins and surfers wow.
Top vid , great effort ...all our watersports together. Everyone having a blast !!!
THAT'S WHY WE LIVE IN OZ !

Awesome work!!
... nice work, loved the colours you got out of the footage too, can you tell me what camera's you used?
Mate - seriously your vids rock!
They are much more inspiring than all the surf/kite hero/product worship vids out there. Outstanding shots, technique and home grown buzz. Top work Nerk.![]()

I think you may find me stalking you![]()

Col
Thanks guys!
Simple but unreal, love the shot of dolphins
Thanks for sharing, thanks for the hours of effort by all involved
Nerk....Your a gun.
A couple of questions...
Are you using Twixtor....if so how much does it cost?
What editing software? Premiere, Vegas, final cut?
How do you get your timelapses to move diagonally are you doing a moving crop or something or is it done live?
Im looking at the canon 550d but ive heard avchd is a pain to edit? would you recommed them over say a Superzoom camera with 24 xtimes zoom etc cheaper?
How good is the zoom on the kit lens? only 4x times?
Srry about all the questions but your style of video is exactly what Im aiming for, and I need some new gear.
Timelapses, Slow-mo, great track, great vision, great sports, great country, great edit. Nerk you are Great. Respect.
All these negative bimbo's raving on about GoPro edits....you come out and smash everyone's expectations. Noice.
Dave.
Great editing skills and the kind of track I like to hear the action set to. Its rare to see one that good.
A real feel good vid.
Cant seeit on the ipad, and the youtube linky no worky worky. But I'm coming back to this on my laptop in a few days when Im back from lazy Phuket. Sounds promising!
Tempted to greenthumb it just for your warning/disclaimer! ![]()

Very tasty Nerk.
What are you using for time lapse camera movement?
From your past track record I imagine you've made a panning head from lego, fishing line and an old kitchen timer...
I don't normally get involved in anything but praise as I think it's a waste of time. This time is no different and I don't think I can add much or better my predecessors..
Making a movie like this about a stoke is like writing a poem, seeing every image as line and thus knowing exactly where it goes and what it should convey to the reader / viewer. In visual terms is even more as constructing / scripting and acquiring the images takes a bit more of forethought than just placing them into a sequence.
So I appreciate it for what it is, for me - an ode to a country of sportsman I'm proud to live in, and a guy with enough vision to make you come back again and again to see what are without a doubt the best 4:38 mins I've spent this year.
I'd pay without hesitation to see anything you produce man. I would perhaps consider approaching a network and get some funding for a larger project.
Thank you, V
Nerk, welcome to Seabreeze. I am assuming that you are new around here as your video does not follow the standard format.
The standard format should include...
- Lots of flicky spinny trips, preferably all the same, preferably all cut just before the landing.
- Blatant brand pimping
- Blatant rider pimping (extra points for posters who add "check out the awesome trick at 1:26" and then have themselves (with name) appear just after said trick at 1:29)
An alternative to the above format is to include endless lawnmowing (this is how I kite
)
Seriously though, great video, the dolphin shot is awesome.
Thanks for sharing your efforts ![]()
