Heya guys..

I'm looking for an "old-school" chicken-loop like the one on the pictures.. Preferebly if I can get a genuine flexifoil one (or if anyone know a flexifoil dealer that might still have some of these older ones lying around?) that would be perfect but any would probably do. Mail me on dave@davespruce.se or message me here if you have one like this:

Thanks

yeah sorry ofcourse its chick2.jpg the second one... I've misplaced my digicam so all I had was mt webcam but if you know what I'm looking for that should be enough for you to understand what I'm after. Obviously you don't.

Dave,

I take these are off a strike! I may have one laying around at home I will check for you (i converted my strike bars to use a shackle on the harness hook so i didn't use the chicken loops).

If not I could do you an upgrade to the new flexifoil release system. I think It should be compatible. It all depends on whether your chicken loop line is connected by a knot to the trim system.

Dave,

If it is a loop that attaches by the pin into another loop as it looks like. Pull the saftey tab that pulls the pin. I have an Airush one with the big loop. You can have it if its what your looking for.

Karve: Thanks mate, let me know as soon as you find or don't find it! And yes it's off a strike 2 bar. I know I can upgrade to the new system but I put the old system back on my Atom bar cause I didn't like the new quick-release system as much as the old. Find the old one to is far more prominent to accidently release if you happen to hit it (as it did after 2 hours of me demoing the kite)

Corey: Yeah thanks mate that's exactlly what I'm looking for. If Karve can't find his I'll gladly take yours, thanks

Dave,

If you find the release too light on the atom setup, just use some tape or a cable tie to hold the tabs in tighter. you can tune the release up to the stiffness that you like. it is fairly light to meet the french regulations.

Yeah I thought of that, but still prefer the old chicken loop with the spinning metalring where I can connect the suicide leash instead of that ****ing extra line that goes through the center-hole... rubbish, also prefer the donkey dick on the old ones... but if I have to (I will eventually) upgrade I'm sure I'll get used to it

why is the centre mini 5th line rubbish? i think it is great. I used to run just suicide but find using the mini 5th line the kite just sets up ready for relaunch if it drops.

the bar gets all tangled up on the ion2 with the long centerline thingo, is it the same thing with the 08 atom?

Don't know about the 08 atom but yeah that's the same issue I had with my 07 atom bar, when you connected the leash to the 5th center line and you drop the kite unhooked it gets all tangled up and twisted and ****... absolute rubbish...

Not to mention the poor attention to the spinning swivel that never worked! You have to untwist it after every session. Damo flys these kites he many have a word on this.

maybe you need to wash the sand and salt out of your bar and lines (and the swivel)
your gear will last a lot longer.
i got my atom start of last season and the swivel still works fine. sometimes if i launch and have been too lazy to untangle the middle lines i just have to keep twisting the chicken loop until it gets untangled then normally if the swivel hasnt worked then the pressure of a few twists bungs the sand n salt loose and it swivels all the twists out.

another tip if you find your swivel is bunged up is also check your pulleys in the bridle (not just for atoms but all the new sle kites)
if you are in a habit of dropping them they prob have salt in them and are jammed which then leads to the lines rubbing on them and then ping!

Cheers for the tips but the kites in Question are both brand new 08 Atoms 9m and 12m they both suffer the same issue with the swivel as did the demo kite I had. Spruceys Atom has the same issue. I guess i will just use my loop to untwist but the swivel is obviously flawed.

Other than the swivel issue and sometimes hard to reach pull/pull system I am very happy with the Atom 08 It is a machine!

bummer sci! that succs.
maybe if you sprayed a heap of wd40 on it it may free it up a bit or somethin.
yeh i found the depower a bit far away too so i shortened the chicken line length and also shortened the rear lines on the kite to suit and it is way comfier to reach and also if you let go of the bar it depowers the kite but it doesnt fall down so quick so you can run up the beach or straighten your boardies or whatever.

i also just got a plastic lined chicken loop as my standard line was wearing out. looks booya, cant wait to use it n see how it feels.
