What's the best way to get there from Sydney? Fly
into Adelaide and get a bus or hire a car from there?

Fly into adelaide and get a hire car from here, or almost as close from Melbourne....

Robe is about a 3 and a half hour drive from adelaide. Post up here soon and you might even score a ride down, I know there are heaps of people heading up. If you are going to hire a car a 4wd might be the go - there is a fun track between Robe and Beachport if the wind is not up and plus you can drive on the beach to where I believe the comp site is.

Depending on where the comp is actually being held there are heaps of different breaks around Robe. Depending on wind I assume the location could even be moved to Beachport....

A well seasoned Sth Ozzy or Vicco could probably getaway with a good spring suit. But for the crew that are used to nice warm tropical waters, a 3/2 steamer will be the go. I'm guessing the water temp will be around 15 to 16 degrees, but i'm no water temp expert.

See ya there

From what i know, it is being held at Third Ramp long beach. Its a beach break that usually has some nice banks in both directions, so it is in Huey's hands to see what he delivers.

Croc, I think you might be talkin up the water temp. Gulf waters in the middle of summer only get to about 16 to 17 degrees. Winter normally around 11 degrees. I don't think she would've warmed up much on that by October, particularly down the SE.

Is there a limit on numbers Those that have to organise travel and other arrangements would be dissappointed if at last minute they're told the field is full.

I've got my mankinny already picked out, boardies are so outta date loverboy.

Marty - I have been known to kite in just sluggos at Robe...female ones at that- case of beer might be coming my way.

Registration details will be out soon Lindsey ( I am not involved in organising the comp ) I believe the full details will be in the next kiteboarder Mag and released everywhere else soon after.

As far as numbers I have it on no authority at all that all that enter will get a chance to compete- the spots are to be unlimited..... but seriously come down to suck some brews in one of SA's best kept kiting secrets !

Would it be worth coming down just for the weekend? Got my final exams that week. It'd be just to shoot, not to enter. Anyone sticking around in the days following?

I know a few crew are staying from Monday to Monday. From what i have heard, the presso's will be held Sunday night no matter what day the comp is held. There is plenty to do around Robe. There is some sick surf breaks, tow in breaks, if you know who to ask (when conditions suits), an awesome 4x4 track, there always seems to be plenty of crew on dirt bikes around and long beach is great for doing down winders. If you plan on hiring a car, go a 4x4 as it opens up more options.

PS, Marty, you might have done yourself out of a carton. I've seen Loverboy in a G-banger when most crew were wearing steamers. I can tell you though, it ain't a pretty site. I think a girl from Melbourne is still in therapy from 2 years back.

No worries, it will be worth the laugh!!! He might get extra points in his heat lol Personally I am a softcock when it comes to coldwater, last time I was in Cactus in October I was wearing a 3x2 steamer with a springsuit underneath!

We spoke to Hudson Godfrey-Smith (the main man) just yesterday.
Sounds like he has everything well in hand (to say the least) - with willing assistance of one particular Robe local.
Everything as reported so far is still ontrack - dates venue etc.
Event is getting massive support from all involved so far and is sounding very exciting.
Hudson told us that the formal announcements & publicity will be commencing any day now.
Reasonable to expect a huge following from Adelaide & Melbourne.
