Hoping for some advice from owners of Pivot.
I am 105 kg riding 135 x 44 Shinn board. Would like to be boosting in 18-22 knots and find my 12m Pivot too powerful ( close in wind range to 17m Zephyr).
Also have 9m Wainman kite that 'lites up' at 22 knots, so dont want a kite that will be too close to my Wainman.
Trying to decide between 10m and 11m Pivot and there are no demos to try.
Would appreciate any advice from owners of Pivot close to my weight that are into boosting.
With your weight I would have thought your 12 Pivot would have been perfect for 18-22kn. The trim system on the Naish control systems are very effective and you don't lose to much steering feedback. Do you dial it in much when you're over-powered? In response to your question though, an 11 Pivot would suffice with your circumstance however I wouldn't bother with the 1m difference.
I bought 12m Pivot to replace 12 Swichblade that was perfect for 18-22 knots. Pivot is much more powerful kite (nearly as Zephyr ).
This is why I am hoping to hear from actual owners of Pivot.![]()
They are the most powerful kite I've ever flown. I am 90kgs and actually own 7 & 10 2016 Pivots. I rarely fly the 10 as I only bother kiting in 18+ knots.

Your 90kg?, I would have thought closer to 80 - with the crap wind in SEQ I think you should get the 10 out more often & loose a few kegs. ![]()

Reality does bite Toppleover. It's been a poor summer and I've stacked on a few kegs
Little kids do not help with kiting either.... my new Vader gets me planing early in regards using my 7m. My next big decision will be either to get 2018 Pivots or Slash....
Thanks Riddim for your comments - in other words you suggest 10m would be enough.
Lucky score today, a friend rocked up with 2016 11m Pivot and let me try it in 21 knots with gusts to 25 knots. Half depowered 11m Pivot was boosting nicely and I had no issues controlling the power.
This is the answer than, I could use 11m up to wind speed where my 9m starts to shine.
Only one meter difference, but I am amazed how much more power 12m has. I am uncomfortably overpowered on 12m at 20 knots.
I am 15 kg heavier than you and it seems you use mostly surf board, am I right? Boosting needs more power than surfing waves I think, this must be why I liked 11m.
Glad you got to try the 11m. The 10m is the perfect size lighter wind kite for me but as I suggested, the 11m should suit your needs with your weight. I ride mostly SB's but like to mix it up on a tt every now and then conditions dependant. Best of luck swapping your 12 for an 11. Happy winds.![]()
