Got the Bali Sanur trip booked for August. All reports are is that the wind is lighter than it feels. i have a 15m Naish Fly which is great in colder sydney winds (fairly heavy kite with 5 star build quality) but the talk is that the Lithium 16m is the go for an 80 - 90 kg guy....thoughts?
From what ive read and been told it would noy be hard to beat the fly or find a better light and upwind kite
I will be there early August as well. 15 is too small.
Zephyr is a good choice, wish i never sold mine.
It really depends on what you want from a big kite.
If your mowing the grass then zephyr is a solid kite. I never bought another one because they are pricey .
I've bought a race kite as my Bali kite.
With the prevailing wind in Sanur you need a kite that punches up wind on those light days.
You can hire the Airush 16 from the rip curl guys. The 16 is also a good choice for Bali but it doesnt crank up wind like a race kite.
If you plan to ride waves with a big kite there forget it, big kites are to slow for cross on. I've hand a couple of long swims from Occa point.
Thanks for the advice.
Any point in taking anything smaller than a 15m...say a 12m for the odd day...I guess not from what you are saying.
What sort of race kite are you taking? I haven't seen anyone riding them where I kite but we are usually in the surf.
Get your point on low winds and bigs kites...had my own dramas there!!

Just to clarify a couple of things that peeps over look on these forums.
If your a good light wind kiter then you might get away with a 15. " BUT"you will need a good light wind board as well. Not much rocker.
Some of my Darwin mates do get out on 14 but they have light wind sorted. They also use Nuggets.
Theses guys only take a couple of tack to get out into the waves. Me, i can take up to 10 tacks to get out there.
I'm a shoker in light winds that why i very really use anything else other than 17.
I've had good big kites to play in waves but they just dont cut the mustard for me in Bali.
I go to Bali very year so i decided to get a kite quiver to suit. Race kite and a flat directional board.
Airush VRX2 with a Slayer. They wont go very well in the waves but i will get out there alot quicker.
The Darwin boys use Ozone Edge and North kites. Most of them have Nuggets.
When are you in Sanur?
