it's ok mate- take a deep breath, dry your eyes and keep practising. one day you'll learn to ride a board with wax...

The point is there's a lot of people doing it and not to many doing it well.

Agreed notice the same thing, but heck everyone needs to practise and look a bit average before they get good. Give them a break, not everyone has the water time like Ben Wilson!!

I hear the bigger problem is all the strapless riders dragging around trying to recover their board in the line up.

If that last pic is not a photo shop job, this guy does not carry coconuts but water melons!!!!

Strapless is great in 2 foot mush,99.8% of people out there would have more fun strapped, would go way harder and be able to boost for extra fun.
I have seen pro riders boosting strapless while holding onto the board but yet to see anyone actually doing it on the water at my busy local (Scarb).

ps; I do ride strapless occasionally as there is a skill to it worth learning but having more fun with straps in most conditions.

would love to see the guys thrashing 2ft step up the game in real conditions
plenty of no grab airs and boosting going on out the back of barrys

Oh man... Im confused!

I spent ages putting these together, thought I was killing it out there! It was like nearly waist height!

I thought this would give me extra "steeze" and people would give me "props".

Who else does this: front strap only. This means strapless on the back foot so that you can move your back foot around (like when you're surfing), but front strap allows control in the air. Total strapless for under 3'. One strap on front foot for everything above. Its that simple.

There is no trolling mate, I'm back at work and bored so no kiting for me. Just a bit of entertainment for myself. I've been kiting a few years over here and never seen anyone pull this pursuit of surfing off with a kite. My view is you kite for the power and speed and it seems over here in the west with the strong breezes we get and crowds you need to be strapped to make the most of it and do the pure surfing by, well, going surfing. I was lucky enough to hear my windsurfer mates talking about lip avoiding a couple of years ago and I never wanted them talk about me like that so I went in the water from then on thinking one thing. NO LIP AVOIDANCE. It just looks lame there's no connection between kiting and surfing if you avoid the lip. And dare I say it again the most lip avoidance comes from people with out straps.
