hey people.im having big problems with my lines on my 2014 NAISH RIDE 12m. i snapped a rear line, and got a replacements from SHQ. once i attached both new rear lines my kite has massive problems flying.heres my problem ( and excuse me in advance coz im having problems verbalizing exactly whats wrong)
when i attach my lines to a nail to check they are all the same length it seems correct.however, once attached to my kite it seems like the rear lines are too tight. when i try to launch my kite stalls immedietly and WILL NOT LAUNCH!! i think its a problem with the pig tails attached to the kite. my lines are only the same length if i include the length of the pigtails.does this makes sense??
without the pigtails my rear lines are shorter. but with the pigtails my lines are all the same length.
should my lines be the same length without the pig tails??
my pigtails are also not the original that came with the kite.does anybody know the exact length my rear line pigtails should be? i know my explanation is pretty confusing, but if anybody is good with this stuff or thinks they can help, please drop me a PM so i can fix this problem. please help.cheers!!
You only broke one line right? So you still have a reference.
How long is the unbroken one compared to your new ones?

Your not doing yourself justice, change your name to absolute intermediate ![]()

they're 24m lines.however, the pigtails aren't the originals.
i think the pigtails are too short or something.
does anybody know how long the pigtails should be on a 2014 naish ride??
I googled your kite and it seems that there has been some experimenting going on with bridals.
So maybe yours has been modified etc.
Why not measure the difference between your new lines and your old and lengthen your pigtails to recreate the original length?
That way it will make sense with line length for you in the future and carry on with the flying characteristics that you are familiar with.
I can assure you Cauncy, that having a working knowledge of how a kite works and being a kiter are two different things.
The name is apt.
i broke one line, but i replaced both. it was the end of last season, so i dont have the broken line or spare anymore.once attached the rear lines were too long because the naish bar has little extensions at the bar. so i removed the extensions from the bar and then it was too short. i fiddled with different combinations of pigtail & bar extensions and found a combination that would allow it to fly. being a begginer i didnt realise that it wasnt flying properly. when it flies it seems like it doesnt have any power. it will fly, but certainly doesnt have any grunt. at the time of this problem my rear line were too loose. so again i put shorter pigtails on. but now the rear lines are too tight.
im guessing both sets of pigtails are just not the right size. for starters, i need to know how long the pigtails are meant to be??
does this make sense or does is sound like frantic psycho babble bullsh** ??
Ragz, if it makes you feel any better I went through a similar thing late last season. I flew my 7 meter kite for the second time, (first time was the season prior when I was an absolute beginner) and now that I am slightly more aware of how things should feel, quickly came to the conclusion my kite felt like a piece of crap.
What I did was emailed the kite company direct and asked them for the outside leader line lengths (pigtails) and it turned out the production line had mixed up the lines and placed (can’t remember) longer or shorter ones on my 7. I reckon you should do the same and email Naish and check your kite specs are correct they should also know if there has been any alterations to your model…
Not relevant but slightly relevant thing myself..&a v clever friend helped me sort it out. Noone epse could figure out what was going on with it.recommend u get bridle lengths original from naish specs measure them all up redo from scratch but i dont know that kite. Had one once that made a ss 7 behave like a jumping 16..was scarey....happened to be shrunken bridlEs.yours is newer however![]()
Get the specs ask holdthelinekites neil to sort it out :-)
