Well today was my day for some death loops while practicing upwind body dragging so i am confident i want loose my board. The kite died as the wind dropped, but due to the kite being under inflated and moved around roughly and manages to tanlge one of the bridle's around the wingtip, Wind picked up and wooooofff LOOP D LOOP. pull the saftey and kite flagged out. What a mess of the lines :( took me 20 minutes on a sand bar to un tangle them. Now I'd like to know is it possible to un tangle the bridle in this sitiuation? Id just like to know so if i get stuck again and im out at sea well you get the picture. Thanks for replys in advanced!

if you didnt under inflate the kite that would not have happened in the first place.

lol shark bate, i geuss i did. But it was a stressfull 20!!!

Exan kite- I thought i pumped it up enough, i gave it a flick and squeeze seemed nice and firm, Try'd to bend one of the windtips and it wasnt real easy to do so. I might have to get a guage to get the correct pressure.

Inflation will help but won't completely solve the problem.
This is my number one safety issue with these type of kites and why, although depower is huge, going out overpowered can be very dangerous.
Youre lucky the kite flagged out as Ive seen a guy hit the safety at the chicken loop and then get pulled backwards through the water for 80m before he pulled the safety on the safety leash.
If lines go loose they can wrap around the wingtips period...

when you pump up your kite give it a flick and it should have a high piched ping noise, then it is done

Crazy death loops
Crazy stuff always happens when you least expect it.
You could always fit a 5th line and keep your safety leash connected to it.

Connecting your safety leash to 5th and on to your loop ( = Suicide leash)
would be a good solution.

Check first. Make sure it works on your set up.

Hey NJ, I Dont know if i could fit a 5th line to my best waroo 07 kite? it has a similar attachment like the one in you pic, but im sure the clip from the leash only connectes to the depower line, not with the Chic loop aswell.

your right dude you cant connect a 5th. but you did the right thing by letting the kite flag out. The other connection just above your chicken loop is not as safe as putting it on the outside lines. what it does is basically double the line length of your front lines giving you twice the amount of depower instead of just letting go of your bar.. this generally works fine unless something is wrong and your lines or bridal are messed up. Because your beggining and you dont really have the need to spin your bar i reccomend you keep it on the flag out on your outside lines. did you a self rescue where you roll up the lines to get to your kite? this can usually aviod any tangles when you get back to the beach. good luck dude... the death loop was an inevitablity a right of passage to kiteboarding :) least you got it over with did the right thing and didnt get hurt

hey h20fly, When i flagged the kite out, i kept pulling on the outside line my saftey was connected too, but the bar kept travelling towards the kite. This caused the big line mess. In my lesson i was on a xbow3 and i only had to pull in the line until i came in reach of bar, and then wind up neatly on bar. I think this is because the xbow had a center line saftey attatchment where my waroo does not. Thanks for the tip on connecting to the OS line. Iv experimented with both now. As you said the OS is better for learning. Thanks again!

i teach in the warroo's and the bar does go up a fair way.. about 1.5 lenths of the kite the best thing to do dude is wrap that line that is flagged around the bar so it ties off.. so your kite doesnt power up agian.then as you would normally pack up a kite figure 8 all 4 lines up until you get to the kite then tie 2 half hitches to secure your lines. this should leave you reletavly tangle free. you will have to lay your lines out again when you get back to shore, but they shouldnt be to bad.. btw 20 min is not bad :) 2-3 hours of bird nest fun is worse :) have a good ride bro

Whole day for a chick to 20 minutes for the average guy sounds a bit excessive. She must be blonde.
I would have thought 1/2 a day to 20 mins would be more average

1) to stop your bar going all the way to the kite when you pull the safety, all you need to do is put a stopper ball on you flagging line exactly one kite length away from the bar so that the kite can flag out flat. easy.

2) you can put a 5th line on your waroo, but it would involve some modifications, take it to a kiteshop and they'll do it for you. you can put a 5th on any kite really.
