My latest board leaves Thailand tomorrow, just got a few photos sent thru, really happy with the look of the board and keen to kite this baby
Looks great (will look even better in real life), these boards IMO are a work of art & well worth the price & build time. They are not a copy of the Tomo shapes its Berts interpretation of this design, when my Vader dies, I'll be getting another Sunova. ![]()
Well his "interpretation" did not leave much room for imagination. I like how he did not even try to find a new name for his creation.
That being said, is it a balsa skin? I found balsa boards tend to crack (experienced on timbertek boards)

I guess most people would call him and ask for a Vanguard style board... hence the name.
Mine is 2 years old, probably 150+ sessions and no crack on the balsa skin. It has a bit of compression around the front foot area which has started to delaminate a bit. Not a big deal though and an easy fix. I have ordered another one with double sandwich construction around the compression area. Not sure whether they used PVC foam or Paulownia for this but I could find out.
From what I can see they seem to outlast the original Firewire.... might be because he is the guy behind the parabolic rail tech. Great shaper
