Hello everybody,
Great session on Botany Bay today!
Got back after the session to get my kitebag with my car key in it and found a very similar bag on the beach but not mine..' made it difficult to get home!
So if anybody using a cabrinha switchblade 8m put it in 'their' bag, would they mind checking the front pocket for my key, it is a remote entry key for a mazda. If you find it it is of course my key and would you please call 0422822006 so I can get it back!
Thanks, Gwil

Happened to me once in Byron, got all the way home to lennox, just cracked a beer and my mate tells me I have his other mates kitebag with his car keys in it, sure enough I was guilty and had to quickly drive all the way back to Byron and deliver the keys to the poor bugger who was waiting in the carpark. We have become good friends, but I double check my bag now and I have a very obvious tag on it too.

Hope you get your bag and car keys back, how did you get into your car and then get it home?

Sounds like people should customise their kitebags.

But what happens at the beach when there are usually 5 red and blue switchblades all the same size?

So writing your name on your bag is just too difficult?

how awesome is it to be able to kite at your local where you just leave your keys in the car

That's what they do in Hawaii on Oahu north shore, they just leave the keys in the ignition and all the spare gear in the car with the boot wide open, no worries. Why can't we do this everywhere ? When I'm kiting I always worry too much about my keys, phone, wallet etc...

Maybe get a standard (no electronics) key cut for your door and carry the key on you when your in the water. It won't start the car but they can normally open and close the drivers door. Not good if you've got one of those cars that don't have a key anymore.

Did you get your bag back?

I never leave stuff on the beach. Always lock it in the car. It's really annoying trying to find space to rig up when there's kite bags and pumps all over the beach.

At walk-in surf spots I stash the bag and still keep the key on me.

I always used a key around my neck. My new Subaru has keyless entry and a PIN number so you don't need a key.

Windows down , keys in ignition, wallet on dash.....

...... only time I lock my car is when I got to leave my kids in there on a hot day!

I had a similar thing happen in rosebud, except the guy who took my bag home took my keys, wallet and towel out and put them on the sand. My ex girlfriend got a call later from a guy who found my phone in "his bag" when he got home and noticed he'd pack his 9 m in an 11m bag. You'd have thought the excess possessions in their would have given him pause. Apparently he thought I'd chucked my stuff in the wrong bag.
