Today is as good a day as any. If you are going down to the river, bring along a plastic bag and pick up some rubbish to take home.....so easy, while waiting for wind or just hanging around after your sess.
The place is pretty clean, but there are cig. butts and bottles around the bench.
By doing your little bit, you set an example, feel good and have a much better session.
Got to Melville late yesterday........looks like it was a peaceful day with all crew helping each other out and people staying outside the buoys.
Did manage to find 2 bottles and some little bits of plastic.......no biggie at all.
It really does not take much effort at all to pick up other people's garbage.....and boy what an impression it makes on the people living along the river. By helping keep their backyard clean you are sending the right message.
Is it so friggen hard to do this little thing? Imagine the message we would send if all of us did just 1 min. of this when we came to the beach........we would really be loved.
Nice One Gruezi! Another thing kiters can do in scoop up the odd plastic bag you see floating in the ocean and tuck it into your wettie leg so you can put it in the bin later.
Every little bit helps. I hate seeing crap in the water and on the beach!
I also picked a plastic bottle from the sand. Very easy to do and didn't take any time away from my ride.
Gruezi, was thinking yesterday while I looked at the number of cars parked along the footpath that maybe some flyers placed on the windscreens could be a way to bring more awareness of the bouys and other issues like rubbish to the kiters of Melville, we must be missing some who don't read this forum.
good on you guys!!!
its just wat melville needs, not my local anymore but great to hear..
keep up the good work

Good idea nick, I have met a few of the locals that live on the street. They are very pleased that we don't leave a mess. I once picked up a dead pelican :-/, bit more than a bottle :-/.
I like it! Keep Melville tidy day! Why not lets show those challenged neighbors that we care about our spot! just make sure you get noticed anyone have a Flouro waist coat handy or should I use some of that ripped up Switchblade canopy stuck up in the big white GUM?
