Thumbs Up

First of all...happy New Year to fellow Melville kiters.

Please remember that Melville is a great beginner spot and also cherished by the people who live there......the locals. So, to keep things happy between kiters, residents and other river users please do a few things which have been stated all to often on this forum and on the WAKSA web site. Don't be a selfish jerk by doing whatever you feel is your right because a screw up effects every one.

1. Launch and land on the waters edge.

2. Do not fly your kite above the trees or road........esp. in a S wind as it is gusty. We want to keep you safe and kites out of trees and houses. Even if you are a very experienced kiter...set a good example.

3. Beginners (those not upwind yet) please stay down wind of the large white gum tree, especially on busy days. It is annoying for experienced people when the whole beach is taken up by newbies standing in the water learning how to fly kites and getting up on the board.

Finally, still too many people just going out and buying gear without lessons or even reading up on how their gear works. Somebody is going to have a very bad experience soon. Today I saw a guy who had his safety attached to the depower strap rather than the 5th line,.........amazing stuff going on out there.

Please get lessons, show some respect, because this sport will spank you when you least expect it. And man if you screw up someone else, then the crap will really hit the fan.

Ride safe.
