Anyone have and experience of kiting in Maritus in May and if its worth taking my kites? and what kite sizes would you recomend.

I was there at the beginning of May last year. I took my kites, but as I am cursed by the wind gods, there was no wind - it came in the day after I left
I think it's a bit luck of the draw, but the location looked amazing and there weren't too many people about either. If you go down to the spot at Le Morne, I think you can rent gear there, though it might be a bit pricey.
There is a hotline that you can call that gives you the wind (I think it's the North hotline if I remember correctly), the number was on a billboard near the airport.
Air Mauritius screwed me on the way back and charged me for my golf bag even though the Perth office had said that it would fly for free; it was only 20 euros, so not much of a train smash, just an annoynance.
If there's no wind, be sure to do some snorkelling, maybe a bit of marlin fishing and go and check out the rum distilleries ![]()
If you're driving, be aware that you can get stuck in traffic going through Port Louis in morning and afternoon rush hour.
Enjoy and know that I'm extremely jealous!
