Having read a bunch of threads on here about line shrinkage, bridal shrinkage etc, I am wondering why manufacturers don't take the very simple and cheap action of placing a piece of paper with all bridal lengths specified in the bag of each kite.
Could save a lot of customer enquiries and keep owners happy.
It would also be good advertising, as their kites would always fly well because it is then easy for owners to check and if necessary fix their own kites.
Another option would be to have one of those square info barcodes on the kite or bag so owners could simply scan with it their phone and go to the manufacturers website to retrieve all measurements when required.
This way specs could be updated for those who wish to update their bridals and a running history of updates would also let owners revert to older designs if they wished to.
Really this should all be in the non-existent owners manuals that doesn't come with kites, but surely just this simple action would benefit all at a very low, low cost.
I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but it's some very technical stuff that would only serve kiters who know how to service their bridals in the first place... Most kiters don't even know that lines can shrink and have to be tuned, and that's a much more usual issue than the bridals. Also I don't know many kiters who actually ever read a kite/bar manual in the first place. Also line shrinkage is an issue that mostly affects kiters living in hot areas combined with sand and salt water....which means Australia. Not many other countries around the world would have similar conditions with such a dense kiting population.
Flysurfer publishes detailed bridal and lines lengths on their Website by the way, but most of their kiters are pretty techie guys.

Or when you take it out of the bag, measure the lengths of each section, write it down, then you have exactly what it should be. You effectively get rewarded for buying new gear.
Do you mean I am the only one who reads the Flysurfer manuals and line plans ? Damn.
Nope
but I get more red thumbs than you cos I commit more of them to memory

Meaning many or stupid ?

A little from column A, a little from column B.
There was a kite surf manual included in my first BWS kit
I didn't bother to read it, probably why my kitesurfin is ****
I just read the manual for an old school 17 I was given. I increased the wind range by 50% because of knowing how it worked.
Went from a 2 knot wind range to 3. haha
