heading over in May,is it worth taking kite gear for kiting waves, any info on accommodation ,waves and wind much appreciated
Was over there in June/July two years ago. Stayed at Heaven on the Planet at Ekkas. Good surf break right in front on the south eastern side Lombok. Wind and swell cranked the whole time. Huge flat water reef lagoon at Kaliantan (about 20 minutes away) with reef pass waves forever.
Heaven isn't cheap but food all inclusive and just a really chilled place to be.
Area is pretty remote too so not spoiled by tourism like the better known places.
Look up Kaliantan Kitesurfung on FB and get in touch with Lalu.

Yep checked it out and looks pretty good but it is pricey do you know of ekas beach breaks looks a bit more set back from beach but still close.where has better waves Kuta area or ekas how far apart are they ??
Good luck Ricardo,
I went to Lombok 2 years ago in peak season with a 9m and surfboard and never kited due to lack of wind.
In fact out of about 52 days in Indo across 4 islands, I have kited about 6/7 times.
Bear in mind I don't like big kites.
Stayed at a Homestay at Ekkas and it is a great cheaper option as opposed to Heaven.
Having said this I have always had a great time, just be prepared to go surfing, snorkeling etc.
Am going to give Sumbawa a go next year !
Wish me luck.
