Where did the warm up vid go?
Only got halfway through and and wanted to watch it again!

Here's one Andy Gordon made up for the last crossing race (which never happened, in the end)

Ok, so super keen to get in on this...

But is this a 'Race' event, with riders on course boards and more serious race orientated kit or are riders planning to rockup with their freestyle tt while generally focused on having fun while blasting across gage roads.

Well my guess is there'll be a bit of both. I've registered and will definitely just be on my standard freestyle gear if I get a start. Hoping the guys at Redbull don't hold that against me :-)

So you'd obviously need a speed board to gain entry into this do you think?? , or are some of you just entering with freestyle gear?
Also where do you get/buy those speed boards with the shark bite recess in Perth ?
Does anyone know if you can get those Xcelerator speed boards here in Perth?
I'd love to enter in this, but maybe too late?
Obviously with only 50 slots available your not gonna get a look in with a normal twinny wouldn't you think?
Dunno whats the feeling out there ?

50 local, national and international kitesurfers will have the opportunity to challenge Caizergues.

------------------

So how are the riders going to be determined from 100's of entries?

Who will make the decision? or will it be a lottery?

Flux - you're probably totally right that you'll need some kind of specialized gear to get a start, but we'll see. Gear is only going to be a limiting factor for the top few anyway. I'm willing to bet they'll be some guys not making the distance, regardless of how much funky gear they've got!

I was hoping to set a new world record for body dragging.

Its interesting that they have a field for what equipment you will be using when registering, maybe they will then select kiters with a course racing focus then select the rest of us mear mortals for the remaining spots.

If you are lucky enough to get an entry I wouldn't worry to much about what board you use it will be fun to just do the crossing.

I wonder if there is a strapless surfboard division

Man I hope to get a spot, me, my hat, snucks and trusty smiley. Got to go with what works. Surely someone with a spot will ride as Santa, how about it Youngy.

tgladman;
I'm with you i reckon a second group who just want to do the crossing & enjoy the experience without worrying about it being a race would be great.

I just dont know if it's logistically possible. Think insurance; support boats; emergency rescue not to mention the extra planning co-ordination yadda yadda yadda. I think WAKSA have probably got their hands pretty full with just a single group of top riders. Throw in a few over confident not quite so experienced kiters & it adds for what could be a major kitemare.

Bevo - I registered a few days ago and haven't received any confirmation despite the website telling me I would be contacted by phone or email by someone from Red Bull. We'll see. I'm still hopeful

I'm sure WAKSA/Redbull will inform all applicants of the status of their application once the spots are allocated. wink wink

Perhaps they'll even make public some sort of timeframe they are working towards with said allocation of spots, and any other milestones leading up to the event. nudge nudge ;-)

given the right wind, it only takes 35 minutes to do the reverse journey and that is upwind. This will be over quicker than anyone realised it started.

as for doing this sort of thing randomly; yes it is illegal. Yes, they will try charge you if they can.

the biggest fine is actually for entering rottnest island without paying the landing fee.
