I live in the states but come home every once and awhile to kite off Narrabeen and Long Reef in the waves. Did they get rid of that lifejacket law yet? Do i need to bubble up or are they not enforcing it?
I've been out of the country for the past 4 months but will be home for summer so Ive missed the details. Are lifejackets needed for botany bay? Jervis bay? Or is it only open surf beaches?
Thanks Dusta never heard of Google. What it doesn't seem to know is whether everyone is now actually wearing lifejackets on the ocean and whether they are actually enforcing the rule. I can't imagine everyone just rolled over and went out and bought a lifejacket.
Yes that is the current fashion now , board shorts over wetsuits and a big puffy flotation vest, colour to match. Its uber groovy, don't be afraid of change, grasp it,embrace it and go with it,i like to wear my lifejacket with my lime green budgie smugglers for a trash euro look while smearing myself in baby oil and rolling in the sand for that just been to the beach look.Yeeew
Hey guys at the moment and since the 1st of July yes we are meant to wear PFD Type 2 if kiting in open waters (i.e. any ocean beach), however I haven't heard of any enforcement yet, from what we've been told it would be only an educational warning for now.
Kiteboarding Australia and KBNSW have had very positive talks with Roads & Maritime over the last 2 months and we're fairly confident they will go back to more reasonable rules before the next rules review in 4(!) years, there will be an official announcement when we know more next week or so! #teaser
