I would just like to thank Darren Marshall/ Kitehard for taking us on the most amazing kiting I have ever experienced.

For those that like downwinders this is the best, we started at Lancelin and finished at Wedge Island, it took 4 hours of non stop kiting. We were kiting reef breaks one to two kays off shore and then heading back into the beaches and kiting the beach breaks.

The colour of the water was amazing the reef breaks were awesome and the wildlife and coastline was spectacular. We had a four wheel drive follow us along the beach and Darren follwed us in his boat filming the whole downwinder and Azza and Big Col taking pics from the shore.

The crew were so relieved when we reached the end ,it had been like we just conquered Mount Everest.

I would highly recommend doing this downwinder with Darren as it was priceless and I will never forget it.

WA for kiting is everything I expected and much much more.
Im kited out and need a rest.
Thanks again Darren and Azza will be doing it next year again.

Darren

Is this a recurring thing you are trying to do or just a one off.

If you are trying to fill another, let me know the cost and planned date.

Love to do it.

Thanks Dan,

The trip was fun and although we didn't get the howling gale we expected (30+ knots) I for one was glad we didn't in the boat.

To others, yes we do the trips irregularly to demand. this was a special for the KKK crew of Sydney.

We will do downwinders from 10 to 50km if we get numbers. Check our website for details.

For the boys, here's a few pics from my little happy snap camera.

Do you know when you really look forward to something, sometimes you are a bit disappointed? This was the exact opposite. The downwinder was one of the top 3 kiting days Ive ever had. Cruising over shallow reefs 2km's out and riding waves until your legs burned. That's gold. I kite quite a bit, but I think I rode 12months of waves in 4 hours. After pushing hard for 2 hours, Wedge Island was still not visible!! The experience was more about having an adventure with good mates than kitesurfing. I will never forget it. Darren and Azza, you outdid yourselves. Very professional backup and local knowledge of every bay and bommie. Sharing a slab on the beach at the end was like Christmas. Cant wait to do it again next year

sounds like another job well done by Darren and his crew... congrats!

It takes key members of the kite community to keep these events rolling and it's good to see after some many years at the forefront of West Oz kiting Darren is still going out on a limb to make people happy...

WA is not just good because of the wind it's good because of locals like Darren...

stoked to hear the East Coast lads so happy! so cool!!

good wind to all

Yup a big thanks from me Darren.
What an experience. Just one of those special once in a lifetime trips that we'll talk about for years to come (and hopefully we'll do it again when the crew return). Although 25 Km (point to point) its got to be 2 to 3 times that in actual distance covered. Surfing reefs so far out that we'd never do without a safety boat, saw seals, sharks and all manor of natures gifts. Beautiful clear water, blasting over fish laden reefs, rounding islands and riding beach surf with sand hill backdrops.. it doesn't get much better than that. We literally crawled out of the ocean at the end. The boys were half asleep in the back of the 4WD on the land trek back to Lancelin all except me and Danza who endured the upwinder in the back of the boat only interrupted by numerous stops in the dunes to relieve ourselves of the beer comsumed.
We got to experience what a great place WA is for kiting and how lucky you WA folks are and we saved the best for last..cheers Darren.

Classic moments on the downwinder.

Big Al thinking the downwinder was over and being told he was only a 1/4 of the way there, Big Al then looked into the horizon and not being able to see wedge island with his carves burning he was wishing for a quick hit of votaren straight up the jaxxy, if only I had a camera to catch the expressions on his face realising he had another 30kms of kiting.

Kevin stumbling and falling over at the end and not being able to find his feet , he sure had sea legs, and had to learn how to walk again.
