Hi Guys I remember reading some where that the LF Fish board ( 2011 ) had Twin tip fins
I have that board now and yeah it's really light on the back end so i wanted to swap out the shallow fins for deeper ones.
I remember some where on here and now I can't find it a rider had his board mod'd to take G5 surf board fins with a great out come on the boards overall riding..
So I am looking to do the same. More for cutting up wind more in light conditions. As we don't really get waves on the other side of the pond unlike you guys.
I don't know about surf board fins but if any of you guys do some info would be good.. I am thinking can i take a surf board fin smooth the back of it and drill and tap it like a twin tip fin?
any tips?
can't wait to get back to WA or QLD prob 2015 now to see family but will be packing the kites and board for sure.
Oh and hi as it's my first post.. pomp from the South coast,UK. Married to a Perth Girl ( one escaped ! ) , currently riding Hadlow board and Best kahoona's V5's and got a world record to me name :-)
Slingshot sells, in pairs, canted side fins, pre-drilled and ready to screw onto your kitefish. I ordered two paires and drilled the holes in my board to make it a quad. The foam core is closed cell foam so it doesn't soak up water. The factory holes aren't sealed either. they do have a plastic insert to prevent the screw from pulling through the board. I used finish washers which worked well. The board holds in much better. The tail always felt like it was going to slide out before. I don't think this board is worth drilling out an expensive set of fins, myself, and the slingshot fins are real cheap. And, remember, if you screw it up you can always fill the holes with 5 min epoxy and try it again.
Hi Kiteuk, Ocean Rodeo make a twintip fin 100mm high that fits a standard twin tip with 2 holes. I bought 4 of these a while back at $22 US but had to pay another $61 for delivery to Australia. I used them on my hand made paulownia board (see-news-how to, on seabreez) to give it some grip. The board can be used in skim mode with normal TT fins or mushy surf upwind mode with the larger fins, they definitely give it more upwind with less edging. Good luck.
