Hey Guys,

Looking at doing a couple of night kites and would like to light my kite and board up with LED lights (for the cool factor and so people can see where i am) just checking if any of you have done this or seen this setup before, the main problem i can see are obviously a power supply in water and what you attach the strips and power supply too on the kite (so it doesnt wear the fabric of the kite) Any help would be awesome, thanks in advance.

hey mate, glow sticks might be a better option. they are lighter, cheaper, can get wet, and are easy to attach.

Glow stick are your friend.
with lighting, 240v is best, you just need a very long extension cord.

I've seen a guy surfing a few times at north beach and as it starts to get dark he turns his board on and the rails are lit up with blue LED lights. It looks fantastic! It looks as thought the led's are built into the board so I guess he must have a waterproof battery pack built in to the deck.

For board lights, it would work best built into a laminate construction. I reckon, bu t not so hard to attach to a kite with a small battery pack.

Post some photos if you do it!

LED lights on the boards rails
Sound like an awesome Shark lure to me. Particularly if used a dawn and dusk.

How about using mountian bike LED Floods attached to a helmet.
Mountain bike lights can come as a twin lights on a single mount.
Never tried it but the light strength Im sure would light the kite.
Its a great idea, you've got me keen to try.

Interesting idea with the toughbox i am assuming that they drilled a hole in the top and stuck the connector through and then filled the gaps with waterproof silicon?

I was thinking of heading down to the hobby store and grabbing one of those battery packs that you find in remote controls that are sealed up but i do have a spare waterproof tough box which i might try as well? Might be good for my board, although i was thinking of trying to utilize a fin mount for the battery holder.

Has anyone on here used plasti dip to coat a battery and after a few applications would that be enough to seal the battery from water?
