Hey there team,

Hey I'm off to Bali in June and am going to kite at Nusa Dua. Has anyone out there been there and if so what are the good and bad points of kiting there.

Cheers

Id be really keen to hear if you find any good spots; Bali is my mothership (10 trips in 6 years) and as i've recently discovered kitesurfing (and boarding - flatwater rules for me at the moment) I would LOVE to do a dedicated kite trip there.

plenty of Bali threads on here if you do a search, but not much about nusa dua. i assume your looking for flatwater? there is plenty of waves there also but you would want to be fairly proficient. the lagoon is pretty good, and if you are there in late june you will probably get some wind. lotsa sneaky bommies in there and the odd sea urchin. also the local line fisherman are not as kite savvy as the ones at sanur, so keep clear of them or they will get call jack on 8123 609622, and for a modest fee he will take you there and help you set up/launch,land etc etc... did i say take a big kite???

Take a big kite !!!!!!!
Not a whole lot of wind in bali 15-16knots is a very good day... the surfboard will get more of a workout.

Thanks for all the replies,

I've been there many times surfing and true the trade winds never really get that strong, 15-16knots, is about where I pick up a good book and wait until it gets up some more.

I'll just take my surf boards instead.

Later and cheers

yeah i was over there for over a month last june/july and spent a few days in nusa dua..... wouldnt say its possible there cause the wind gets so farked as it comes from the wrond direction.

bali is ur best bet, and it was blowin round 18-20knots most days we were there (which is contradictory to wat i was told bout being light)... also if u get the chance lakey peak sumatra was sweet as well with crazy wind in the arvos!

best bet though is leave u gear at home cause there was so much surf had no energy to kite!!!!!
