Best time of year for those light winds (jun-aug right)....?? and is it possible around there. We have an opportunity to stay there in a friends house. Any kiteschools I could contact? Probably not right, too light to bother?

I stayed there for a couple days nearly twenty years ago..

there was wind enough to get moving swiftly on a catamaran

but we ended up just hiring bikes and racing around the island

Hey Eppo

I had 10 days there in July this year. There wasnt anything greater than 10kts for the whole 10 days. Still a really nice place to visit and was a fantastic family holiday but sadly not a kite surfing destination

Yep I'm getting that from my searches, cheers fellas. Might be a tourist holiday to drum up some leave points I think.

I saw some guys out on 30 year old windsurfers, thats as close as it gets to kiting. theres a flight to Banda Aceh from Penang which is sort of just across the channel there. can be realy windy there that time of year maybe even check out the west coast of Penang could be getting the same wind in June. other wise eat sleep and drink

Really not worth going to penang eppo, you will be disappointed, even if it's just for a holiday.
