I'm soon to visit a friend in Bathurst and he (a non-kiter) is raving about the possibility of me kiting on the Dam. It seems to be allowed, although he's never seen any kiters there...

Has anyone ever kited there and what was it like? Favourable conditions are?

Thanks

Is this the one on the way towards Rockley just out of Bathurst?
If so, I would imagine the gusts would be consistent with the surrounding hilly terrain. Not ideal but then again without being there lately I am open to learning it can work. Be the same trying to kite the likes of Burrendong out of Orange and Keepit at Tamworth. You could always head to Lake Canobolas at Orange but again same terrain - steep hills to mess the wind up.

Let us know how you go.

Yep the one on the way to Rockley apparently. Never been out that way myself. Thanks for the info.

Chifley is in a valley for the most part. In recent years they have raised the dam wall . . . but not by that much! Maybe have a look at Carcoar Dam. At least it has a windfarm right next to it. Good luck. W
