Hi All,
My husband and I are beginner kitesurfers. To give an idea of our skill, we can go both ways but only just hold ground and sometimes go upwind, deep water launches often a struggle for me but less so my hubbie. We are hoping to go on a bit of a holiday and try and and progress our kitesurfing. We were thinking of somewhere in Fiji. The most often recommended places such as Safari lodge etc seem to come up on forums, however....
1) We have two kids however (5 years and 20 months) so really need somewhere with a kids club and some nice swimming pools etc for them or it is just too tricky to tag team. (we have learnt this the hard way at home already)
2) I get the vibe that a lot of the choice kitesurfer places would be great if you could just kite all day, but according to tripadvisor if you are not out on the water they are not that luxury or great for kids (no pool, no nice snorkelling etc). Even if there was a kids club we dont want to dump them for the whole day, just an hour or two daily, so were hoping for more luxurious options and some really nice snorkelling, swimming, spas etc. (god I am sounding very spoilt - sorry)
Anyway Castaway island Fiji looks like just our cup of tea in terms of non kiting activities, kids club, cheap babysitters, etc etc and it also looks on the map and on tripadvisor like it would get lots of wind, but just dont know how realistic it would be for two beginners like us to head over there and head out for a kite on our own . Has anyone kited there? Would there be some safe options for us or would be risking getting blown out to some reef :)! We would be happy to pay for an instructor to join us to keep it safe and help recover boards etc if required, but doubt that there would be one on the island.
Thanks for any tips
