Discovered someone I knew from school has spent the last couple of months travelling the globe and has now written a kitesurfing book called "The kitesurfing diaries - central and south america" so I picked up a copy.

I know a couple of people had been looking at coffee table books although this may or may not fall into that category. Either way, its something slightly different

Its about 170 pages of photos and reviews of different places from central and south america, enough to really make you jealous but it also gave me a good idea of some places that I need to visit in the future. It covers everything from accommodation options, to nightlife and partying. Spent about 50% of my time reading the book being really jealous, and the other 50% scheming ways to try fund some of these trips without my wife suspecting I'm raiding our baby fund.

If you're looking for a travel guide or something to give you ideas for your next travel trip, I'd highly recommend it. Its easy reading and may give some of the youngsters some ideas for some backpacking trips.

You can check out a bit more information here:

Looks like a good book, that lake in bariloche would be so awesome if you had a serious wetsuit(drysuit perhaps)

what's the logic behind best and cabrinha making 'golf' kite bags?
Is it because kiters/snowboarders/etc are presumed druggies until proven innocent whereas golfers are assumed respectable businessmen until proven otherwise?
(this may have something to do with the first snowboarder to win a gold medal being found with marijuana in his system )

Or do some airlines have a golf club allowance or something?

Dutchy - Pretty much every brand makes a "golf bag" I have a Dakine one. Some of the airlines (in particular long haul) carry golf clubs for free or let it only count towards 5kg of your allowance. Used to fly around Europe on British Airways for that reason.

I have the Kite and Windsurf Guide to Europe and if this book on Central and South America is anything as good as that I would be keen to pick it up!

Lostinlondon is spot on. I got an extra 15kg's added to my luggage with some airlines. I think most have started changing there policies these days, but a couple of years ago it made a huge difference.
