Hi all,

we are going to New Cal in November for kitesurfing. Both beginner-intermediate kite surfers. We are bringing our two kids (5 and 1 year old)? kind of have to, I guess :)

Anyways - just after some advise: Should we got to the Island and book the hotel Ilot de Maitre and kite surf that spot for a week OR should we stay at the Le Meridien in Noumea and kite surf that spot? Got my info from here http://need2kite.com/location/new-caledonia/#spots

Thing is, the island hotel can only pick us up the next day from Noumea and would have to drop us back off in Noumea a day earlier? so we would have to stay at a different hotel after and prior our flights. Its getting more complicated - especially with the kiddos. And then I read reviews that the hotel Ilot de Maitre is actually pure boredom for the kids and dinner is really late etc etc?..

SO - Bottomline is : CAN SOMEONE let me know how the spot at the Le Meridien is? IS it ok for our level? HAs anyone been there, done that (maybe even with kids in tow)????
Any advise and tips appreciated!

Thanks all :)

He can take you to a close island that is more suitable for your level and give you a heads up. He picks up at meridian beach. Plenty of wind there. You just need to know where to go and what you are doing. The meridian has a narrow launch, is offshore and can be busy with a heliport. You need to be able to go upwind. Mind you, I've seen people kite there that are below beginner level. It's a more suitable area for family. Some nice walking tracks and restaurants around the area.

Stay in anse vata. There are boats that go out there every day. Pkra is usually on during November .

The island is a good beginner spot.
