May have to spend a day waiting for a seat on a plane to Taveuni, any hints on where there is a possibility for a daytrip, travelling by taxi from "raffles" at the nadi airport??
I'm there next week, looking for something to do on the 19th?

Been a long time for me since I've chased waves in Fiji, but for a day trip for (waves) the closest is the Coral Coast, Sigatoka area. Quite a few options there. Reef and beach. Alternate is get on a boat and head out to "Cloudbreak". Sure there will be plenty of punters there willing to do the same.
Sigatoka rivermouth .the gate is often locked (not sure on the latest re land dispute) .its a bout a 15 min walk from the locked gate but worth it .if the trade wind has a bit of North in it it can really get a good x shore wind around 25 kts Long range charts are looking windy too with outgoing arvo tide .Could be epic ,very remote spot ,you could be on your own unless there are surfers there ,kiters unlikely .Have fun

Should have jumped in a chopper and joined us for the day! Lovely day at the Sandbar today and a 5km downwinder back to Safari Lodge. Nice easy riding with a 10m today!
