I am supprised you are able to run the event ( permit wise ) without an ambulance on standby particularly with the promotion of the competitions etc...... I know $1,500 is a lot but surely each competitor could pay an extra $10 to ensure that one is there just in case.

Having had several concussions in my life I can assure you that you cannot just accept that someone is ok when they say they are and allow them to continue,

at the time this sort of thing has happened to me I have felt ok and continued to kite or ride(mx) only to realise during the course of the next 30min.... I can kite fine, my corordination seems fine ..... but what the F*&^ is his name, and his name or hers.... people I have know for quite sometime yet cannot remember their names even up to 5 hours later.. This confusion was also accompanied by bouts of euphoria but closely followed again by fear ( will my memory return ) and confusion ( i know these people what is happening to my brain )

It is very very hard to convince someone that they need to stop what they are doing after a concussion simply because they dont feel that anything major is wrong.

this threads full of way too much rabble.

in all seriousness if the said medic was standing behind the judges at all times like he states then why was it only us riders in the water giving him a hand, i mean the carrier was only brought out pretty much after everything was concluded with a bunch of riders that arent qualified to make decisions on whether or not he was fit to ride..

that being said i got out there shortly after a few of the other guys and by that time darren has started to regain his footing and looked alright to go from my POV, but like i said im not a medic and i dont know the do's and don'ts.

Fair nuf Bobjaan - I read his scribble a bit diff but then that's the thing about forums and emails etc - they are often interpreted vastly differant.

Perhaps - same goes for my reaction to some of the responses.

I don't think anyone is to blame BTW - and i feel sorry for the volunteer medic etc copping flack but scenarios like this need a rehearsal of sorts by all-n-sundry for future KS shows.

You never quite know what you need until there has been a precedent though, so Darren's bonce buster was probably good in the end.

Yep congrats to Simon who took it out in the end.
It was closely fought and lots of guys were pushing him especially Jerome who kept raising the bar with some big, smooth, boosts that meant that Simon had to go huge to earn it, so congrats to all.
Surely someone has some footage of the big air and the kiteloop comp.

Check the waksa website. There is a gallery set up where everyone can upload pics. A space for general interest Kitestock pics, another specially for costumes & party shots but most importantly "Action Shots", posted in a special album, to be voted on in the Paul Burton Memorial Photo Comp. See full details of that one on the waksa website as well (as soon as we get a chance to write it up).
