Since its inception, Kitestock has primarily been about having a weekend away from Perth for a bunch of kiters to get together socialize and have a kite together. As you are all aware, the weather forecast for Kitestock 2011 is not looking ideal for a weekend of kiting.

Kitestock 2011 will still go ahead but obviously the programme of events we have planned will be amended to reflect the prevailing weather conditions. We are trying to come up with a series of alternative events to keep everyone entertained, despite the weather forecast. We will all need to be 'fluid' in our expectations and what is delivered.

Kitestock 2011 might just be an opportunity to catch up & chat with crew you haven't seen since last year. It may be the year we have the inaugural beach Olympics to replace the Epic Downwinder; it may be the year of the inaugural KS beach cricket competition - who knows right now. Kiters in Geraldton have posted that wind conditions aren't always as forecast – who knows – we might just get some onshore winds. The swell is up, so if you surf, make sure you bring your surf board(s).

Given that many of those attending have arranged leave from work, taken the kids out of school for a day or two, and booked accommodation, it makes it too complicated to postpone the event. Besides, there's no guarantee that we'd get wind if we put it off to any other weekend. All of the preparations including catering etc have been in place for some time now, and if we were to postpone or cancel, WAKSA would forfeit what we have paid. There are no refunds should someone chose to withdraw at this late stage.

The organising committee is as disappointed and frustrated as everyone on this forum – in fact with the work that has gone into pulling Kitestock together this year, we are absolutely gutted at the predicted forecast. However, Kitestock is about socializing with fellow kiters. Just because we might not have the wind we want, doesn't mean we can't have a good time.

We encourage everyone who has registered to come to Dongara this weekend and have a really good weekend away.

Kitestock – it's about good crew, good food, and good times.

Bring on Kitestock!!! I'm still coming all the way from Canberra!!! Had a great time last year!!! I'm sure it will be a great weekend and will have a laugh and catch up with old and new frineds. (And I bet we'll get a kite or two, Dongara/Gero can't possibly go a complete 3 days without wind!!!!)

Miss Jessie :-)

Everyone had a blast at the PKRA event held at the goldy with no wind. Kitestock is on, geez kiting at an onshore, choppy,4 knot current dongara beach with 350 other kiters isnt the highlight of the weekend nor ever will be.

This year wont be the same though. For the next 8 months people will be happy to turn on the air-conditioner in their car without risk of getting a mouthful of sand.

Hey Tightlines,

You just drove the knife in deeper, thanks.

We can atleast pump them up and have a closer look.

I am so unbelievably bitter about the whole thing, I realize it is nobodies fault but $%^ it was difficult trying to get leave and then it is compounded by not being able to kite for the last 3 weeks - saying that I did go out last week wednesday with Gastro but spent most of the time trying to through-up on the beach with my harness squeezing into my already bloated gut.

What's all this negative ****, yeah we are unlikely to get the classic winds that we are used to, but there is no way I am giving up hope, we should get some wind and besides there is a bit of swell around.

Oh and I have now got some old kites that I can use in an offshore and if it all goes pear shaped I can just eject.

If I am really negative now, then the idea is that anything remotely good at Kitestock will be EPIC, SWITCH that, an absolutely SHINING moment as long as there is no ECLIPSE. As long as there is BWS (Beer, Wine & Spirits).

And People, keep the REVS down, RPM's low and drive safely! And only use 95 OCTANE.

I think the depression has driven me mad.

Jeepers Rich!! Wouldn't wanna be downwind of you after that

Next time try a seat harness to 'hold everything in'

And yes - stop throwing Fuel on the fire, you Hav(oc) gone a bit Psycho and you need to be Converted by a Religion to see the Light.. without a Nano of doubt.

But I still Envy you going to KS 11.
