I just took a look around other forums on SB, and the one thing that stood out was the comaderie, friendship, green-thumbs and stoke from guys sharing each other's stories and experiences - be it general surfing, longboarding (especially mellow there), and windsurfers even (mostly).
But all hell has broken loose here in the Kite forums it seems....
I thought kite surfers were a friendly mob. Happy to help those stuck or having issues with their kites. Everyone look out for each other. Everyone!?
Just the other day, I forgot to close an air outlet zipper on my foil kite, and it collapsed right in front of this guy unwinding the lines. He didn't bother to just drop the bar, look, check, or stop the kite spinning. Kept on going like he was there on his own or something.
And it's not just me. Another thing happened to a guy with his Cabrinha. It landed LE first near the shore, about 5 metres away from two kiters just staring out to space. They could have easily have re-launched the kite. But nah.. they stood there like stunned mullets.
Maybe it's just the local spot here lately. A lot of new faces I've not seen before.
Or maybe, just maybe the world is too caught up in itself and forgetting it's a way bigger world out there.
Perhaps they had insufficient tutelage with foils and kite launching and were afraid of getting throttled by the neck if they messed up...?
You wrecked it. Was fun before you came, now we get the shizer taken out of us by you.
LOL
You're in VIC. Are you sure you're referring to muah?

Haha... nothing could be further from the truth. Actually it's the other way around. I get throttled for offering to suggest tips on relaunch, water starts, etc. I guess some think I am too nosy?
Why are some kiters snobs?
That thread should have been this one. Laurie - any chance to remove that old one?
I think the forum is less bullyish than normal. But what it is lacking is any decent content. Its a ghost town for actual discussion about kites. Its just a bunch of dudes taking the piss.
^^^ I think boredom is setting in between the transition from summer to winter , its always a **** time of year when seabreezes are gone and we are swetting on the cold fronts to start coming through for winter.
It's a great time of year.. Ditch the kite and grab the surfboard, swells pushing through with all day offshore
Yeew
Get stuffed - we don't need that kind of calming logical reasoning here!!
Just how is that whole sharia law thing qorking out for you englishmen craig?

Thats because most people wear waist harness's these days.
Boardshorts over the top of wetties, used to protect expensive
wetsuits from being worn out by the leg straps on seat harness's.
So I believe
No, it was wakeboarding fashion.
That luckily that went out with Tap Out T shirts.
Yeah, who remembers wakestyle? What happened to that?
Glad you guys are keeping me in the loop with fashion. almost just put my boardies on over my wetty! could have ruined my session.
Glad you guys are keeping me in the loop with fashion.
I am starting a bucket hat detailing business I have several flairs and designs I can adorn on your prized bucket hat so all your friends know who you are on the water
Fashion first. I learned this from when Fonzy jumped a pool of sharks in Happy Days.
Everyone know this

Oh lofty would you please just SHUT UP
Those bubble folk, one out at dutchies the other day on a grey 9m Vegas I think just mowing the lawns oblivious to all; nearly caused a tangle with a mate, I had to do some evasive manoeuvres (with right of way) to avoid and lastly that guy ends up in a tangle with some unlucky dude. Don't text and kite!
