Not sure if this has been posted up before...
I did not hear of this accident happening back in Oct, the injured kiter is lucky to be alive.http://www.mydailynews.com.au/news/saved-by-a-mate/2063641/
Tell me about it. And he was wearing a board leash according to the article because his "board" which he was still attached to caught the wind and dragged him away. Must have been at least a 80 knot winds for a board to drag someone away like that, and the board must have been one of those light wind 50cm wide things. No wonder the helicopter had issues landing.
I was in a very similar accident I was paralyzed but also knocked. I was not conscious that I was dying. Some other kiteboarder finely notice that I was not fixing my lines ,face down, under water for over 5 minutes (location kailua Hawaii, June 6, 2012) . When he tuned me over I was purple and dead looking. The pumping action when dragging me back to the beach brought me back to life. That also startled my life savor because he thought I was dead.
I woke up the next day in the Hospital shocked and wondering what I was doing here. Couldn't move, Got a MRI and found my neck spinal cord was crashed and bruised from landing on the back of neck. Got fusion surgery but still stiff in my hands and walking joints.
Lesson to be learned is that Jumping can be dangerous or at least learn, how not to land on the back of your neck, (learn to fly your kite better so you don,t drop like a rock).
