I've got a day off tomorrow from work and thinking of going for a kite. I usually kite woodies or safety bay but the wind tomorrow is NE. Anyone kited Pt Walter or lucky bay applecross on a NE? I was also looking at maybe Mandurah in the estuary. Any suggestions?

Try the seabreeze search function or look on google maps. Look out for the rocks at Point Walter too.

NE not much good at lucky bay or pt Walter. If you experienced enough goa next to apple cross jetty. Just don't let yourself get too close to the boardwalk (there's rocks underwater and a big wall) or drift off the edge of the bank if the wind drops out as you'll have a long swim home

Thanks guys, looking on google earth, the rockingham foreshore just before the bridge to garden island looks good. Providing the wind has enough northerly in it. Anyone kited this section of the rockingham foreshore before?

Attadale beach is the way to go on the swan .rigg at attadale and then you can traverse in the Melville direction for more clear wind if it gets to much north in it.The mandurah estuary is good at wannanup beach slightly north of the Dawesville cut. From there you have a multitude of space and if you want to go for a cruise to the east side you can get some butter smooth flat water.

Thanks Diamond. I'll probably give attadale a try. Definitely want to try Mandurah estuary sometime too. looks like a huge expanse of water to explore.

I have noticed over the years that the swAn has stronger wind generally.Especially on light wind days!

totally incorrect .

Attadale dog beach just east of the pt walter boat ramp , pt walter also works . In front of the cbd if you are experienced .

Dog beach was epic this morning. Had the place all to myself? Perfect 10m wind

I got there about 12. The wind dropped to 10knots as soon as I got there. Only had my 9 and 11 in the car so was a wasted trip. Should have got there early.

no need for a windmeter . If the sand is being picked up on the beach it is 20+ knots

whitecaps but no sand 15-20 knots

and easterlies are always better at dawn until 10ish although in summer they can go for longer but dawn is always the best time
