Laurie needs to get them into the Breeze shop ![]()
Cheers Uncle Bob.
I wish they just made compatible mounts for everything...
Having to sew bits of **** to a wrist mount modding the thing is not really fun..
... G'day Guys,
here is a little vid I put togeather with both board mount and a bit of strut mount. I did put the board mount on the bottom with the camera mounted on the bottom but I've yet to attempt to kite with it there for fear of breaking the camera or the mount. Oh, and by the way, the mount on the board is just the bracket you get with the camera box with a couple of holes in it. To stop the camera falling forward I strap it down with some thin rope, not too much engineering thought went into it but so far so good.
Cant edit my post sadly I just got finished modding my mount again.
I took a seam buster took apart a few velcro peices moved them about 4 inches now the camera is not going to move at all when under tension. then I solid tacked down strap so I wont lose the camera. I think this incarnation should work.. the problem before was it could move.
I need to clean up my stitching on the leftside though. I got a really cool sewing machine that did the right side zigzag should hold very well.
When it is rolled up its got velco on velco on velco so its inlikely it will ever come undone.
G'day Slicer,
I used the GoPro Vented Helmet Strap and wrapped it around the strut, with a small tether around a seperate part of the strut. Seems to not wobble too much, but I think yours is better, and looks like it is more secure!
I've got another vid with a bit more of the camera on the strut.
Its just a matter of getting everything to where its snug the camera was able to wobble. I was already at the beach and no way to modify it there.
This is strut mount MK II, Will see how it works out the thing is so ultra tight now that the only give is that rubber oring thing. It does not move at all on the strut.
Of course pointed in the right direction - at you. But should the camera be parallel to the centre strut or perpendicular? You get right way up shots on one tack and upside down on the other. Puetz gets sideways shots on both tacks, right way round on one transition and upside down on the other . Not sure which is better?
This is what i mean about mounting:
This is yours, which you could change in post:
This is Peutz's
I'm gonna try a strut mount tomorrow and I was going to mount it with the vented helmet strap to the centre strut in the same orientation as Peutz, but although your vid made me pretty nauseaus perhaps your orientation is better. Not sure, but you see the difference?
Just looked at your mount again. You've put so much work into it and I cannot see that you can rotate it thru 90 now. Like i say, not sure which is better. You can rotate it in post and that would be fine, i guess.
I use mine mainly for wave riding and I guess the kite moves from side to side quite a lot, so I will probably go for Peutz orientation.
I see what you mean I would not be able to rotate like that no. However I think the video should be rather stable first attempt is first attempt :)
Ok, just returned from a session with the cam mounted on the kite with the vented helmet strap like Peutz. Cam nice and stable, but I think your orientation with cam parallel to the strut may be better. I'll try and post something later.
Ok, viewed footage. Cut out cruising bits and loading to youtube now - I will post the link in the morning (late here!). Definitely better with your orientation, long axis of camera parallel to strutt. Otherwise everything is sideways. Tomorrow I'll change the orientation and I think I will be happier. Wind a bit gusty today, but reasonable chunky surf.
Well I am still working on getting out :( La Nina is terrible here right now its making the winds absolutely nuking.. People were on 3 meter kites yesterday and 5's today.. I only own a 9 meter.
