It's now official, in case you didn't knew :)
The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has decided to add ten kiteboarding events for the 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition.
Apperantly there will however only be racing...

It's good to hear that kiteboarding is now mainstream.
Hopefully regular normal people will start kiting and not just the feral crazy crack head types that occupy our sport now.
Well at least its not flickey spinny fake wakeboarders projecting the sport to the billions. Having said that I would probably watch a regatta before kite racing.![]()
It will be interesting to see Cabrinha's Stance on Kiting making it into the Olympics after Neil Pryd's big rant on why kiteboarding should not be in the Olympics.![]()
Bloody good stuff i think! All the faceless people that must have put so much work into this happening deserve a huge pat on the back!![]()
so.... any bets who will get to represent for australia? how big a team can we send?
so what will the australian qualification criteria be for selection onto a development team and then the final team? will aksa get some olympic funding to send a training team to international events so our riders can get some real racing experience and at least get competitive? or will it be up to the individual riders to fund themselves?
keen to find out the AKSA response and plans in the lead up?
Neil Pryde said the following about kitesurfing at the Olympic Games.
"Olympic sailing is all about one design because the emphasis of Olympic sport is on the athlete not the equipment and I think kiteboarding has a way to go to get to a one design standard".
Basically what he is saying is.... until every racer uses Cabrinha gear, kiteboarding should not be an Olypic sport!!!!!
Good luck to all the racers out there for 2016. My money is on John Heineken for the mens.
