^^^^and kitesurfing is lame?????? I must be gay, lame and sometimes I use training wheels, I unhook and sometimes send my kite to lunch...
I'm so depressed I tried to hang myself on one of the Crossbeams at the Indian Commonwealth games. Dont worry, I'm ok the roof caved in.
Hey Peeps,
I had no real interest in kite buggying until a kind fellow in Byron way back in about 2003 lent me a ride in his buggy in about 15 knots of dead onshore breeze. From memory the kite was about a 4 or 5m foil on handles. It was also the first time I had ever flown a foil on handles.
The basic idea of the sport is easy and you could teach someone to buggy in about 1 hr to a fairly competent level. I dived the kite, took off at a rate of knots and to my astonishment kept accellerating until I was moving at a pace beyond my comfort level which was exhillerating. Every gust on top of that had the buggy's back wheels losing traction and the buggy getting a bit sideways as it accellerated further.
With your bum only 6 inches off the beach and doing more than 60kph and having about 70% control, I can tell you it was one of the most fun things I have done on land. Getting back was easy and it was instantly addictive.
A couple of years ago I tried Mountain boarding with big foils and that was great fun too, really enjoyable but crashes hurt a lot without wrist, elbow and knee pads. Much more difficult to perform tricks successfully than kiteboarding with much higher risk. You can't just plop into the water and let go if it all goes pear shaped ![]()
My point is, anything driven by a kite in good winds is awesome fun, don't allow your fear and ignorance hold you back from having a go. It's bloody awesome! The only gay or pathetic part of it is mouthing off and dissing it without having first given it a red hot go.
Try it, you may even like it! ![]()
