Hi there..
I'm going to visit Manly beach, Queenscliff bay for the next month. I only got room for one kite, but witch??
I have a 7-9-12m2 c-kite. I was thinking to bring 12m2, but witch one would you guys guess would be the best to bring?
Thanks, see you on the water
Anders
Id bring the 12m. Especially if you are on a twintip. It gets a bit gusty close to shore, so the larger kite will be handy. Most guys exclusively that size at Manly.
There will be good days at Dee Why that you may need smaller but that wont be often, and harder for you to get to.
Kitesurfing is not allowed in Manly. Too many surfers, people on beach etc. You might see kiters occasionally, but its only kiteable in perfect SE wind, and even then only early evening time when the crowd is smaller and the lifeguards have stopped for the day.
Deewhy and Narrabeen are only 10min away by car/cab. Much bigger beaches with all the space you want and kiteable in many wind directions.
Which kite? Depends on your weigh and whether you ride twintip or surfboard. You are coming at the right time of year, and most kiteable days will have 10s and 12s up in the air.
FYI botany bay gets an extra 4 or 5 knots on average and is flatter (if youre into that).
Hope that helps,
H.
Thank you guys, i'll keep my 12m2 in my backpack.
Looking forward to some sunshine, warm water and nice surf. I come from the cold north Europe!!
See you on the water
